Hey everyone!

I'll just give you a short story of my question

I have three girls and with each girl we knew right away which name we wanted. Never once during my whole pregnancy of all three girls did we find a boys name that we liked.
I recently went to my first ultrasound and found out that number four a BOY. Uh oh I have a girls name already picked out but NO boys name! Can you ladies give me a whole bunch of nice but unique boys name? DH and I are at a loss LOL

We don't have any kids yet, but my hubby and I can think of lots of names for boys, but not girls. The two names we picked for boy names are:
Cody Lane (Lane Frost, a rodeo rider) and Tyler Roderick (Roderick is my cousin's name).

I think you have to be careful with names because it can define you child. When I named mine I tried to pick a name that 1st could not be turned into something stupid by mean classmates. Then I didn't want something that made them sound as if they were a 10 year old when they are 40 and trying to be a CEO or head of the Farmers Organization. I tried to give them one name they could use if they were a Lawyer, CEO or President and I tried to give them one that they could use if they were an artist or musician or whatever. Also, I learned from personal experience you don't want the initials to be something that can be turned into something kids can tease them about. Mine were ABC, my grandfather's were DOG etc. If you don't want something everyone else has you can check the most commonly used names list. But that doesn't always work because when I named my oldest Daughter Rebecca, Rebecca wasn't even on the list. The next year it was number 1.
My kids names were
Danial Joseph
Dierdra Annette
Phillip Scot
Rebecca JaNae (Yes that is typed and spelled correctly JaNae is a family name)
Chloe' Suzanne
Veronic (Rainna) Beth.
When my two youngest girls were in High School one of the teachers there taught them both. Before the youngest one graduated the teacher had two baby girls. One named Chloe' one named (Rainna).
Other names for boys I might have used were
Ian
Eaun (Scottish form of Ewan)
Kjell (Norweigen pronounced Shell with she SH hardened almost to a J)
Tristan
Duncan

LOL - we finally had two boys after having five girls! For our first boy, we used both of our mothers' maiden names - Broderick Davidson - try looking back into your family for some great names.

My girlfriend named one of her four boys Sawyer... and I LOVE it! We named our son Samuel because it means "God heard my cry" - and He did. He really, really did. :) Good luck with your search! - Nini

We had two girls first and chose the diplomatic way. We both wrote lists from baby books and only kept the names we both chose and made a final decision from there. The girls are Sabrina Madison and Shelby Isabel.

When we had our first boy, it was a toss up between Dominic, Eric, and Duncan. We chose Duncan(because we are Scottish) and his middle name is Jeffrey after my husband.

Our second son came along and we needed to find a strong name like Duncan for him too. We found another Celtic name of Ronan. I made a big stink about his middle name being Jeffrey too, because I didn't feel that it was fair for our second son to be excluded from his father's name just because he was the second son. I was able to persuade my husband, and our son is Ronan Jeffrey.
My husband is happy we did that!

My son is Nigel. His middle name is Jack after his grandpa. I also loved the name Graehme (graham) and Hamish for middle names.

My boys all have middle names after a relative..well, all but my very oldest..I was young and honestly just didnt' think of it. His middle name is Lee. Second son Casey's middle name is after my dad Dean, Third son came into our family at age 14 and came with his middle name Randolph...which is after one of his birth relatives, 4th son's middle name is Averill after my grandpa, youngest son's is Timothy after my husband's brother. The girls middle names are after special people too, Summer Amelia is named after her foster mom..who was awesome, and Erin Cecile after my grandma. We kept all their original first names since none were adopted as newborns but had fun letting them help pick their new middle names from a list we made together.
I have some very interesting names in my family tree..including some great uncles named Houston and Harrison and Arnel and Aunts named Oleta, Georgia and Elsie. My great grandma on my dad's side was named Nola and I always thought that was a very pretty name as well. I love choosing names..even for my critters..and love for them to mean something!

So many good suggestions to choose from! I have to say, down here in the south it is very common to name children after a last name or maiden name in the family. My sister is Holley (Mom's maiden name) and when choosing a name for my son, West was one of our options (my maiden name). The name that won out for my son was Joe Paul (named after my great uncle and a very cool uncle at that)
Other last or maiden names from my family tree that I think would make good boy's first names are Kellum & Kempson. Two first names from my family tree that were VERY unique are Herman & Theron.

Good luck on your decision. Please let us all know what you choose.

Diane! We had Vann for our baby's name but found out we were expecting a girl! So we're holding on to that one for #3 whenever that comes around...#2 makes her appearance in October, and AnneMarie - I love the name Liam! Oh and my first DD is Madison (Maddie) and #2 will be Charlotte (Charlie). Hubby got to pick with the first, as you can tell it's uber-trendy. I got to pick with this one, as you can tell, because it's as old-fashioned as I could get without the hubby refusing to use it. :)

My son's name is Vann. I have never heard of too many others with that name. He did not like it when he was young, but now he loves it.

Age only matters if you are wine or cheese.

My boys are Sebastian and Linus. I tend to like names with a rich history that are not trendy, and age well, you are obviously welcome to use either of those since I do not own those names! ;)

My youngest (girl) would have most likely been August or Ansel, those were the 2 I really liked during her pregnancy.

Other name suggestions given your taste:

Elias
Samuel
Oliver
Owen
Philip
Peter
Isaac
Benjamin
Tobias
Henry

Good luck!

Bump!

I'm starting to think of names for our 1st. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl. I'd love to name her Emmaligh, (emma-ligh), but, emma is such a popular name-I was thinking annabelle, or something old fashioned and pretty. I love the name Caleb, but my husband is dead set on a family name (Jamie being his #1 pick. I think it's a girly name, but, he doesn't think so. LOL)

Starbucks and sushi to green fried tomatoes and corn pudding-I wouldn't change it for the world.

My daughter's name is Carter, but it's a great name for either a girl or a boy. If she had been a boy, he'd have been Seth. I also really like my dad's name: Myles Julian. Congrats and good luck.

Boys names are hard...we had a girl and we're trying for another so everytime we hear a name we both look at eachother and go "Tommy?" No. So the ones we like are Jack, Arthur, Sawyer, Eli, Lawson and Logan. I am partial to Grayden, but DH doesn't like it. I think Grady sounds like a great Quarterback name ;-).
