I may have to detox or deprogram them.  They're at a friends farm with my parents. My youngest has been there since Sunday, my oldest just rode up last night to spend a few days.
It's a mini farm with chickens, a pond, and lots of land to explore. I talked to my youngest (8) 2 days ago and asked her if she was having a good time and her response was "No, Mom - I'm having a SUPER time!" She goes out to the hen house every morning and collects eggs then helps make breakfast. Evenings she tells me that's when the bullfrogs come out so she heads down to the pond.
She's spotted deer in the field - the coyotes were howling the other night. She's in heaven! I hope that my oldest has just as good of a time.
I'm so glad that they're able to experience this on their summer vacation - you know, us being city folk & all.  It's not a normal part of our routine.

City Chick I am down right jelous! My son almost has to forced to touch the dirt! Once I get him started he is in love but got to get him going first. I wish we had family that still had a farm. I would love to take him to one for a few weeks every summer! I am glad there having such a good time! |

Deb, sounds like they may not want to come home. I love that they are having such fun on the farm. There really is alot to do there and they don't even realize they are working at all. Just having the best time.
We have a small farm and my DD and family live next door in our little house. We have a little "frog pond" now where we had to repair a water pipe and never covered it back up. There must be 15 frogs in there. They are laying eggs all over, too. So the kids like to sit and watch them. I never saw gorls just go crazy over frogs. And we have milk goats. They like to help milk them. And gather eggs and eat fresh raw veggies they pick from the garden. It's great to be in the country and be able to see the kids have fun at just about doing nothing at all. Just being kids.
I do hope you can get them back home again.

Aww! that's so sweet! I get to experience that a little when my neices come out from Cleveland. They are so in awe of my chickens, frogs, the creek...etc etc. I made homemade marshmallows, graham crackers (smores) for them one night and the middle neice was like "you can MAKE graham crackers and marshmallows???" They have no clue where food comes from. Thank you for sharing!
