So I just realized it is snowing on a third of the country while the rest of us are already melting and warming up. We too had a cold hard winter and one of the projects that we had a ton of fun doing was

Ice Lanterns.
they turned out so cool. If you did some too, please share pictures.

We took plastic containers and filled them up with water (hot water iced clearer, we even tried food coloring) you can fill them up an inch at a time, layering the ice. I froze floating cranberries and they turned out so pretty layered in the ice. We took empty cans, filled them up with marbles (rocks would do) and sunk them in the middle of the freezing layers of ice. When they were totally frozen, that is where we placed tea-lite candles. Then at the end of the season they just melted away and the birds ate my cranberries. . .

Anyone else have fun "winter projects" or "rainy day" activities?
Best,
h

Thanks Ladies!
I have to admit I graduated from The Evergreen State College in Animation Production, so I have a way too much practice with the camera. Thanks Alee for helping me figure out how to post a picture. Like they say a picture is worth 1000 words. . .

I have heard of doing that, but never tried it!

Right now I having been drawing things for Nora to color- like bunnies, lambs and easter eggs. We are going to paste them all over the living room!
