Both my kids birthdays are on either side of Halloween so we decided that we are going to do their parties at the pumpkin patch every year until they are old enough to ask for something else. We are having it at a farm that will do hayrides and have a corn maze, so the activities are already taken care of, but I am looking for goody bag type ideas that are an alternative to the candy bags, especially sense they are getting so much on Halloween anyway... also looking for a way to combine cat in the hat with halloween.. I like the idea of cat in the hat because we call our girls thing one and thing two from the book, and our invitations will say something to the tune of "thing two's turning one and thing one's turning two"

Last years theme was "our little pumpkin is turning one"

I'd like to keep it affordable, we already have a pumpkin bean bag toss and a pumpkin ring toss the age group ranges from 6 months to 4 years. The majority are around 2 though.

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.

Can't you paint (with craft paint) the face of the Cat in the Hat on the front side of a pumpkin, and then put a big red hat on top of it? I think that might work him in...

There is pin the stem on the pumpkin too...Halloween colored hairbows are easy and cheap to make for girls...Last year Target had some pretty inexpensive jewelry and such in the Halloween isle.

I have a halloween child too. She is 23 now though, but we had plenty of halloween themed birthday parties, it was fun.

I LOVE the Thing two is turning 1, Thing one is turning 2...funny funny and clever! I will tell my daughter that one.We might use that next year!

Depending on their age:

Younger ones-homemade Halloween playdough in yogurt containers you've spray painted. I have a great recipe for playdough that is cooked and you can't tell from the commerical stuff, except that it lasts and lasts. Sometimes as long as 6 months. Let me know if you need it.
Older ones-send them home with containers of "slime" they've made themselves. If you look on Nickelodenjr.com I think you can find the recipe. Otherwise there is a book out that's called Kid's Cococtions or something like that.

If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping!
