Well, I think it is official. Our nursing days are numbered. She is so disinterested in nursing right now. She howls when she sees me lifting my shirt and trys to twist out of my arms.
I have decided not to force it. If she wants to be Miss Independent then that is okay. Making it to 10 months of nursing was a feat for me. Some days I didn't think we would even make it this far. She loves eating table food and drinks from bottles and sippy cups and my cup if I hold it for her. She also can drink out of straws.
She is getting ready to walk and is practicing talking all the time. So I think I have a budding toddler on my hands!!

Oh yup! I have baby fever alright! But I know I can't have another right now. I miss the infant days already! I think we will wait until Nora is 2 years old to start trying for another. By that time I should be done with college (Yay!)

But you know what Alee? SHe will wean and move on...and you will be SOOOO okay with having your body back! You know what is next right????
You'll be getting baby fever soon, if not already!

I'm on my 3rd (and most likely last) kiddo, so I'm feeling all sentimental & want Sam to be my baby for a while longer. Lucky for me, he still loves nursing at 18 mos, which is the age both my girls & I were ready to wean. I remember how refreshing it was to have my body back in my possession after the initial "empty breast" syndrome passed!!

Yes, we already know that she as a mind of her own! LOL But she is also sweet and kind. I think she is just ready to go and move about and doesn't want to lay still for that long! LOL

Yeah, Zoe has never had a bottle. I can't pump and we are very much against using formula when I have a perfectly good pair of functioning breasts, so she never had one, or a nook. She obviously drinks from a cup and a sippie and straws just fine, and I should qualify, she only nurses in the AM before getting out of bed (we co-sleep) if she gets hurt or upset, for nap time and then to sleep at nite. The only time she will nurse at nite during sleep time is IF she wakes up which is seldom.
I am truly dreading the day she decides she doesn't want the wahgahwah (her word) anymore :(

Mine weaned themselves about that age if they had bottles. My youngest never had one and nursed til he was three. Plus at that age it really slows down even if they are nursing exclusively - mainly bedtime and morning and comfort for a lot of kiddos.

That precious time we get to nurse is so sweet. A mom is the only one who can provide that nourishment and have that unique and exclusive experience. So special!
I have a family story that still gets talked about. My grandfather, now deceased, would ask to nurse out in public. He'd hide behind doors and whisper to get his mom's attention. I guess that's not so bad except he was 5 years old!!

My oldest just one day at 6 monthes didn't want to nurse anymore and went straight to a sippy cup. Never had a bottle. I think I missed it more than she did. MB

The girls weaned slowly which was easy on my body, Charlie decided at 8 months that he didn't want to be up against me being held anymore and stopped cold turkey. I thought I would DIE!! You will miss it but the independence can be nice too. You could always still pump to give to her in a sippy cup.

I am feeling pretty okay with it, actually. We have slowly been letting her drink more and more bottles over the last few months so I don't think this is going to shock my body too much. *thankfully* We'll see how I feel once it's all over and she is officially not a baby anymore!
