Nora had her 6th month Well Baby Check yesterday. Our doctor is really pleased with her. He says she is in the 5th percentile for height and weight but that is perfect for her frame because I am small (only 5 foot) and her dad isn't a giant either. He says she is exactly where she needs to be along developmental lines and she will be getting her first teeth in within the next month! Oh my gosh! My baby is going to have TEETH?! Yikes! I thought that wouldn't happen for at least another little while! She is growing up so fast! I can hardly believe it!

Nora can sit up and stay sitting up all by herself for over an hour, she is inquisitive and likes to explore new objects, she isn't afraid of meeting new people but certainly preferes me to others (LOL), she is working on crawling and moves around by rolling and army crawling. I think the carpet helps with that because it provides good traction for her.

He says that even though she won't understand words yet, we should use big words around her because she is laying the tracks for language later in life. Even if we aren't talking to her, she is still hearing and learning.

Maybe I should start reading all the posts on the forum to her! :D

Toni-

No she usually bashes into my cheek with an open mouth. She has given me a couple of fat lips doing that when she misses. LOL I think she is imitating me kissing her cheeks but she doesn't quite "get" it yet. She doesn't suck on my cheeks- though she will my neck or my chin! LOL

Ooh, does Nora put her little hands on your cheeks when she kisses you? Wyatt does that and I just melt. He just turned eight months earlier this week, and is getting his first tooth. I'm really hoping he doesn't start biting me. OUCH, I would hate to have to wean him yet. He just started pulling up to stuff this week, and is already taking little steps along the edges of chairs. I am soo not ready for a walker, I have barely accepted that he is crawling now! :-)

We spent much of this past week in the tractor and I can tell he is definately going to be a farmboy! It is hard to get him away from the tractor or combine! So cute though when he tries to "drive" with the steering wheel when we are parked. He doesn't even fuss when he is put into his tractor carseat...much different than the car!

Motherhood is so much fun, I can't wait to have many more!!!

Yup, Nora loves to eat! Somedays it feels like that is all she does, but I know she is putting it to good use. You just have to love the babies. They are so adorable and huggable and kissable. I always think it is funny when Nora gives me baby kisses on my face.

My son was nine pounds also, and he ate, and ate. And ate, and ate some more. He weighed 32 pounds at one. I had great bi-ceps then. Now he towers over me and I am 5'8".

Oh my gosh! Sullivan sounds like such a dear! I want to get a walker for Nora, but realized I really want her to work on crawling so I decided to save my money. But she did enjoy the one at my mom's house earlier this summer.

Sullivan weighed 7lbs 2oz at birth and was 3 weeks premature! He weighed 15 and a half at his 6 month appt. I can't remember how tall he was, but he was in the 85 percentile. Tate was that way too. They were both always in the 25-35 % for weight, but 85-95% for height. My boys are going to outgrow me probably by age 12. I am going to feel like a midget. 12 month clothes are getting a little tight on Sullivan already. Oh, and he just got his third tooth yesterday. Number 4 isn't far behind. He is getting up on hands and knees and rocking, but hasn't actually crawled yet, still army crawling. He is really good in the walker. He can practically run and can turn himself to get around corners. He loves chasing his brother!

Oh my gosh! A nine pound baby! I would have had to have a C-Section! Nora was only 5.5lbs and the nurse said that I just barely got her out! I guess I have a narrow birth canal.

I know each baby goes through their own growth spurts at their own paces, but it seems the older they get the closer they get. I mean, a baby that is 6 months older will be practically the same age as Nora by the time they are in kindergarten. :D

My baby is now eleven. She learned to crawl, and before long she was standing and walking. She walked for about two minutes and figured out running gets her there much faster.
I have been trying to at least keep up with her since. LOL

But, I wouldn't have her any other way.

My baby started at nine pounds when she was born, by the time she was a year old, she only weighed nineteen. I thought she would be stuck at 32 pounds forever- she weighed that for two and a half years.
But she was/is always healthy, and that was the most important thing.

Treasure your babies, they grow way too fast and start to talk back before you know it. LOL

Hi Toni!

Nora was 15.5 lbs at her well baby check! :D

She gets to see babies every Sunday and I have a few farmgirl friends around here who have babies that are a bit older than her. She loves other babies and loves to look at herself in the mirror.

It sure is fun to watch them develop and learn! How old is your son? I just saw an 8 month old yesterday that was using a wall to help him walk!! I couldn't believe it! I can't believe that in 2 month Nora might be trying to walk!

Alee-

It sounds like you are doing a great job! It is really amazing how much babies progress in just a few short weeks. Not quite a month ago, my son was just starting to crawl, but still mostly army-style, and now I can hardly keep up with him and just yesterday he tried to walk...fell on his face, but I can't believe he is trying that!

When I take Wyatt in for his check-ups, our nurse chuckles when he gets weighed because he is kinda chubby I guess. I don't notice it, but every time someone asks how old he is, after I tell them, they say wow, he's a big boy! I have no idea how big he is now, but at his 6 mo. check he was 29 inches and 20 pounds.

Does Nora get to see many other babies? Wyatt doesn't see too many others his size, but we visited my cousin and her son about a month ago, and Wyatt was terrified of him! But Parker was crawling really quickly and got right up in his face, so I guess thats why. I show Wyatt pictures of other babies in magazines and he loves it, though.

Too bad we live so far apart or we could introduce the babes! :o)

Toni
