Posted - Sep 04 2007 : 2:05:54 PM We are gearing up for fall and winter...quite looking forward to some cooler weather for sure. I was wondering if you veteran FarmMamas could help me out with some ideas for outdoor gear/winter wear for my kids. I have learned the hard way that pale pink sweats aren't a great idea on the farm... We have overalls and jeans, the mainstays of most kid's wardrobes, but I am thinking of Carhartt coveralls, coats etc.. They are pricey, but I wonder if they are worth it for kids? Machine washables are a must! So, what gear is on your *must* have list? Wellies? Warm mittens and hats? Thanks! K |

Posted - Sep 05 2007 : 04:39:19 AM Our boys got carhartt coats and bibs a couple years ago for Christmas. They got iceman boots for their birthdays. My husband and myself have had them for a few years, and we found they were worth the extra cost. The only boots that came close to keeping my cold feet warm. We did not spend that money on carhartts until the boys were pretty much done growing. Figured they would last them a long time. Probely should of done it sooner for them, to keep them warmer while working outside.
