I just read online that the government is getting ready to recall Simplicity Cribs again! I had a crib on a recall list 2 1/2 years ago and they are still totally unsafe! Please call the Consumer Protection Safety Comission 1-800-638-2772 or go online and see if your crib is on the list! I know there are a lot of moms here and I just want to help get the word out! As heartbreaking as this is to write, there was a 10 month old boy who died from one of these cribs and I don't want to see it happen to anyone else!

Thanks Monica. I still have not gone online to hunt this down, but it was on the Today show yesterday.

Shirley Jean, It's not any of the older cribs! It's ones that were manufactured from 2000 to 2009. Some of the ones recalled are made by Stork Craft. 4 children have died by getting trapped between the sides and the headboard. A lot of the newer cribs have plastic slides that can either wear out or break creating larger gaps where kids can get stuck!

my grandkids sleep in their mother's 32 year old Jenny Lind when they come here. But I need to see if their bed at home is on the list. How did the little boy die?

Jonni, I don't think it's crazy at all! It's probably safer! I had an old crib for my first 2 and it had solid metal bars that the side dropped down on and I always felt comfortable with it! When I had my youngest and had 2 in cribs at the same time I got a second one and it was a Simplicity and it was totally cheap! The slides were cheap plastic and I had 3 break on me even after they sent me replacement pieces! The one good thing is that they are no longer in business, but there are still millions of cribs on the market!

That's so nice of you to post, Monica. I know this is crazy, but we use my husband's baby crib, so did our niece and nephew who are 5 and 3. It's a Jenny Lind and meets all modern day safety standards...but seems to be better and it's almost 40 years old!
