Well, we've been busy under all of this snow and ice!! A new post and recipe is up at the blog at http://www.oklahomapastrycloth.com/blog/
The recipe is for wonderful, easy and original individual soufflés for your Valentine breakfast or brunch and included is a unique and, I'm sure, TRUE version of how Valentine's Day came to be.

Also, just in time for the big day, I have just included really unique chocolates on the website at www.oklahomapastrycloth.com/shop These chocolates are made right here in Oklahoma by the Bedré Chocolate company, owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation. These chocolates are the only ones in the US, produced by a Native American tribe. They are scrumptious. So head on over to my little piece of "internet Oklahoma" and enjoy!!

Please check out the new products that have just been added to the site. All kinds of Made In Oklahoma mixes and seasons and also Frontier organic dried items. But the best is the Bristol Harbor White Chocolate and Cranberry Scones mix. Absolutely to die for. It's like eating sugar crunchy, buttery shortbread on the outside and moist, fluffy cake on the inside, filled with warm, melting white chocolate and chewy, sweet cranberries. OK...I'm can't stand it. I've got to have one!!!

And by the way folks, speaking of Marybeth and Washington state, it's my pleasure to let you know that Marybeth from Washington state, a True Blue Farmgirl, is the winner of the December/Christmas Oklahoma Pastry Cloth giveaway. Her name was randomly drawn from entries from all over the country. She is receiving the basket of goodies featured in a photo on page 3 of this topic of posts. Look for our next giveaway and perhaps you will be our next winner! And no, it had nothing to do with her name!!:-)

McLoud is near Oklahoma City in the central part of the state. Spiro is in the east central part of Oklahoma, near the mountains in the pictures that I posted above. I looked in the white pages and noticed that there are a number of Strains in Spiro.

Where is Mcloud? The fellow that was best man at our wedding was from Spiro and lived out here for awhile and worked with my late husband at the Auto Shop, but then moved back to Spiro. The last time I talked to him he sounded fine and the phone is disconnected and I cannot find him. I guess I'll have to try his family. Strain is their name. MB

Sounds like Oklahoma! The eastern side has mountains (see photos above) and plenty of precip while the western side is flat as a flitter and dry as a bone. The western side is where the dust bowl took place. There are still sand/dirt dunes all over out there, and up where my son lives in Alva. Geography is a strange and wonderful thing! :-)

Eastern Washington gets plenty of snow while western Washington is called the WET side. Washington is cut in Half by the Cascade Mountain Range and each side is way different. MB

OK, so this is Oklahoma...we aren't supposed to have blizzards. But we did! What a Christmas!! Just thought I'd share photos of the white out conditions and the results thereof. We had 40-60mph winds and a record 14.1 inches of snow in a matter of hours. It was incredible.

Yep..ol' man winter came to visit Oklahoma and appears to be here to stay. I think I'm going to be doing lots of baking!

On the road and in Atlanta. I always thought that it was Hotlanta...not this week! :-) So many cool stores and lovely antique shops.

I just uploaded the latest blog post/recipe that I hope you can use for your Christmas meal. Our favorite sandwich bread - it's light and just a hint of sweet. http://www.oklahomapastrycloth.com/blog I hope everyone has an absolutely blessed Christmas and that it is a time for you to center down with family.

Thank you so much for the support in this, my first year of business. It has been exciting and fun and I look back over the year in amazement. God is so good and I give Him the glory!

Happy baking and by way of an Oklahoma blessing, "May your Christmas buns not expand too much." ;-)

I started making my pastry cloths because I was so tired of the wax paper and plastic mats. I make homemade noodles and they have to be rolled paper thin - a total disaster on wax paper and plastic mats. And my pie crust stuck to the wax paper and mats as well. I came up with this kind of pastry cloth because I wanted it to last forever, I wanted a heavy surface that wouldn't slide as I rolled and I wanted to be able to cut my noodles on it. So, the Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ was created!!

Check out the gift sets and the mixes on my website at www.oklahomapastrycloth.com

I'm intrigued by the pastry cloth idea. I have a great pie crust recipe but it is a bear to roll out and not get it falling apart. Normally, I roll it in waxed paper to make it easier but this might be easier yet.

I've never been to the Pacific Northwest, although my parents lived in Ashland, Oregon while my father taught at the college there a number of years ago. I hear it is beautiful. I have lived all over other parts of the country, however, (born an Okie though!) and it is my opinion that every single part of our country has its own beauty. The quiet wildflowers and trickling streams of the Smokies to the desert cactus flowers of New Mexico and Arizona - the muted mountains of Maine (like that alliteration?)and the jagged peaks of Colorado to the flat prairies of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Nebraska - it's all breathtaking. But I'll bet you never dreamed that Oklahoma has this (see photo below)!! I took this a few weeks ago near Talihina, OK. God's creation is indeed spectacular!!

Another Mary Beth!! We are a special group indeed because there are not many of us. All of my sisters have double names as well. Good ol' Southern tradition!!

The Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ has been around for 25 years, but not for sale - not until friends suggested that I might think about becoming an entrepreneur!! You must have another kind. However, I am sure that it hasn't got the "Okie Spirit" sewn into its threads!!! Can I giggle there? :-)
