The most scrumptious smelling Pomegranate soap! I made a large batch and am so excited to see it tomorrow. I always take it out of the mold and cut it within the first 24-48 hours. That way it is firm but doesn't chip like it sometimes can when fully cured. It will be cured and ready in time for Farm Fair! I am so so so excited!

The smell reminds me for some reason of a hot Indian Summer day with bright sunlight, maybe a breeze blowing and that wonderful yellow tinged sunlight flooding in the windows. The scent is warm but also tangy, almost floral but not quite.

I love scents that evoke sensation memories or "snap shot" memories. It doesn't necessarily bring up a specific moment- but more an ephemeral conglomeration feeling of all the fall days that felt like that!

I just had to gush! I am super excited about this batch!

Hi Glenda! Thanks so much for the compliment!

Cleaning house today I found where my husband stashed the shipping labels for you and your daughter's Soap Swap boxes! Yay! They will be on their way tomorrow for sure! Sorry for the delay!

Wow Alee, I'm going to have to check out your site. Your soap look good to me.

Sunrises are wonderous things, nobody should ever miss one.

Thanks Kay!

Yes, I am always envious of the "perfect" bars, but I guess it's just not in my nature to achieve perfection. I know that some people use miter boxes to cut their bars exactly perfect. I have thought of doing that but I always forget to buy one when I am at the hardware store.

Alee - the soap is wonderful! I love the color. Who cares if it's not perfect. It's handcrafted soap and I like that look. I'm too much of a perfectionist and try to make each bar perfect. I'm starting to relax and just let happen what happens. I love your soap. Wish we had scratch and sniff pictures!

Oh my gosh Sharon- i just got done cutting the lemon soap. WOW! I am having a hard time wanting to sell it! I always have this problem when I make lemon soap. It smells so good! Fresh, clean and delicious. Nora was playing with the trimming scraps and now she smells like lemons too!

The lavender soap is cut and curing too. Just like I thought it would- it turned out spectacular!

It's pretty Alee. You could say that the bits represent the pomegranate seeds :)

I bet the Lemon smells so good!

Hi Kay-

Well, I know how it is to want to see soaps- so here is a picture of the Pomogranate soap. It broke badly when coming out of the mold so I rebatched it last night, unfortunatly I was half asleep so I scaleded a few bits of the soap- still perfectly usable of course but they are the yellow bits in the pink. I think I am still going to trim this bar a bit more after it has another day's drying time in it.

So not perfect- but I will post pictures of the upcoming batches which should be excellent. I can't wait to cut my lemon soap tomorrow!

When I need the darker reds I usually grab my Wilton Cake colors. They are safe for the skin since they are food dyes and are meant to stand up to the high heat that CP puts out.

Color is hard in cold process soap because of the lye. That's why I don't color much. I see some people's soaps and the colors are gorgeous but mine don't turn out that way. Kind of like when I tried lavender in lavender soap and it turned gray! I can do ok with blue and green but that's about it. When I think of pomegranate I think of a darker pinkish red maybe more towards burgundy. How would you get that color in CP soap? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hi Kay- I sure will as soon as I get to the stage where I am packaging everything up. I was a bit disappointed in a new line of soap colorants that I tried- they didn't work out very well so I am going back to my more basic colorants and pigments that have worked for years and years. So I might end up making a second batch of the pomegranate so I can get the color I was aiming for. It turned out a pinkish purple- pretty but not what I think when I think of pomegranate!

ps- Since I am in the process of updating my site, there isn't any shopping cart abilities, but I do have paypal.
