Posted - Nov 30 2008 : 09:28:24 AM For about 5 years before we sold our old house, dh & I went to auctions and I bought vintage linens, aprons, kitchen stuff, etc., for my future farmhouse. Well, I ended up with a cottage instead, so I have waaaaay too much stuff. Plus, I just want to simplify my possessions. I've been going through boxes, putting aside what I want to keep, and I have quite a bit of stuff to sell. I found 10 aprons just yesterday!! All of them vintage, from an estate sale.
I don't know where to begin, but thought you ladies might be able to help me. Here are my questions:
1. Where would you suggest selling items like this (linens, kitchen gadgets, etc.)? I just opened an ebay store, but I'm not sure that's the best place. What options are you using, and which ones are best?
2. What about items that have small stains or flaws? As long as I am very clear that the flaws exist, that's okay isn't it?
3. Would you put items together -- say 3 or 4 aprons -- or would you sell them separately?
4. Any other advice or tips??

Posted - Dec 01 2008 : 12:11:55 PM ** For most people I know that sell things on the internet, they seem to use Etsy the most ** Remember to take good pictures of what you'll be selling, and a good description help a lot. "Vintage" also seems to get more hits that listing something under a banner of "Used" "Old" or "From Granny's Attic" --
Jus' a couple ideas for you. Sounds like what you have is wonderful, so I don't think you'll have too much trouble selling items.
Have Fun!!

Posted - Dec 01 2008 : 09:12:23 AM Er, I thought Etsy was for hand crafted items? I could be wrong, but that's what I thought...

Posted - Dec 01 2008 : 07:55:38 AM I would do both as well--since you already have the ebay store do that, and etsy is inexpensive to try. Search on both sites to see what else is out there, how they're priced, and so on.
Definitely use the word vintage in the title! If you list several in one listing you could also use the word collection--I have searched on that.
Include your shop name in your signature here so we can all go look.......... :) Best wishes with it.

Posted - Nov 30 2008 : 12:37:10 PM Thank you, Shirley, for taking the time to post. I'm going to try to list 10 or so items each day I'm off work and see what happens.

Posted - Nov 30 2008 : 11:40:36 AM I have purchased many vintage aprons from Ebay and it seems they sell well there. At least I see lots of bids and action and a great selection. If you have an ebay store, I would try it, just remember to use the word vintage for your things, because I think people search that word out. At least I do! When I read the descriptions, I often see the seller mention any wear or stain that exists, and it seems to be a good way to do it. If they are half aprons, you could group them, but if they are bib vintage aprons, I think you would get more selling them separately. Good luck!
