Posted - Apr 14 2007 : 6:10:37 PM I just was watching the 6 o’clock news. They are saying that a huge storm is moving up from Midwest and will be hitting the East coast. So far this storm system has been bringing egg sized hail, tornados and flooding. I hope all of you east coast Farmgirls have some emergency supplies laid in and are ready for a possible big snow storm or flooding rain.

Posted - Apr 19 2007 : 12:14:57 PM We are safe and sound, though lost power for a time. We don't usually flood but we have friends and family who were bracing for another round but the river crested (we hope...) last night and all are soggy but not flooded. The ground just couldn't absorb the quantity of rain, it came so fast. Other towns far north of us have been hit really hard and are still waiting for the water to retreat so they can access the damage. Stay safe everyone, I hope it's over though the sky is looking very ominous today.

Posted - Apr 15 2007 : 12:23:05 PM Still nothing here yet, Birdi. You're going to get a lot more snow than me. We're ready except to put the goats and birds in and close them up til at least Tuesday. I'm sure the goats won't go out but the ducks will love the flooded field.

Posted - Apr 15 2007 : 11:27:15 AM It looks like it's going to be a nasty one. They are predicting high winds, power outages and up to 2 ft of snow here. Got everything ready and maybe it will change its mind. The rain has just begun here...little mixing. Gonna cuddle in and get some crafting/quilting done. Everyone take care and weather safely!

Posted - Apr 15 2007 : 03:22:56 AM It will be here tonight. I'll top off hoppers and bring in firewood this afternoon. Our wind warning is higher than our precip warning. We're supposed to get 2" of rain. That will sit on top of snow-covered frozen ground, run off into the streams and rivers and cause flooding. A lotof the streams and rivers north of me are still covered with ice. As the water rises the ice will lift, break apart and cause ice jams, causing more flooding.
By this time tomorrow I expect the yard, pasture and garden to be flooded.
