Posted - Dec 22 2020 : 6:18:44 PM Our electric company just phoned everyone with robocalls saying that all staff vacations are cancelled, charge every device up, and that we are getting high winds and storms on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and to expect power outages - get this- for several days. WHAT??? Omg. So 2020.
I hope they are wrong.

Posted - Dec 28 2020 : 3:26:56 PM Hi Girls! Thanks for the good wishes and prayers! OH MY GOODNESS! They were not kidding. Christmas Eve looked clear, and my daughter and I went out a bit. As we returned home, around 5, the rain started. It seemed okay. Thankfully. My husband got home in good time, leaving work early. We were able to do our baking for the next day, and have our nice Christmas Eve dinner. We watched a movied instead of going on our usual light tour. However, during the night it was like a HURRICANE! Thunder! Lightning! Almost four inches of rain! It was terrible, and we were up awhile. We did lose power, but we slept late and by morning, the storm had cleared and we had power. Some of my friends were not so lucky and had no power for two days! Christmas Day was so nice for us. It rained part of the day, but we were warm and happy inside the house!

Posted - Dec 24 2020 : 06:58:35 AM I'll be praying for you, my dear sister. How awful! I can't get over that they know this happens to all of you every year and they have yet to remedy it! My GOODNESS! All I can think of is the New England winters we endured when I was a kid! I loved being snug and warm inside, but the weather outside sure could be frightful. We always had a cupboard with the essentials at the ready for just a time as those...Candles, water, galoshes and boots and scarves and hats and mittens and shovels and a whole host of necessaries. When the power went out - oh my how cold it would be! Thank GOD you are prepared and together! PLEASE stay safe, cozy and warm... and have the Merriest of Christmases... No matter what it looks like, no matter what losses we suffer, no matter what perils we face, nothing can take the loving Gift we have received, Who lives in our hearts, from us - ever. Let's hope and pray for a miraculous turn of events... and that you have the endurance and everything you need to get you through if and when it does hit! God bless, protect and provide for you all! Please let us know you're okay as soon as you are able!
Hugs and love,
Nini

Posted - Dec 23 2020 : 10:17:17 AM Well, we can’t control the weather. Hubby and I are always prepared because the last few years, it seems our area always loses power for days (and weeks) at a time. We lost power for over a week in August after a storm. Last week with the snow, we lost power for over 12 hours. It is what it is. As long as my family is home safe, we will make do. It just would be nice to have a stress-free, ideal Christmas! Maybe it won’t be as bad as they are saying it will be. Sigh...
