Posted - Feb 13 2007 : 06:27:46 AM Last night we had an ice storm. Everything is covered with a thick sheet of ice. My mailbox and outside garbage cans are frozen shut. The limbs on the trees are bending and now the wind is supposed to pick up to howling speed.
And we are supposed to get a few inches of snow on top of this. They are warning everyone to stay off the roads but I am sure some folks will have to get out.
Hopefully the power will stay on and maybe there won't be much damage. I am glad I got all my errands done yesterday. They were warning us about this, but you know how it is. Sometimes we don't take things seriously enough.

Posted - Feb 14 2007 : 07:21:36 AM We got it too here on the East Coast and it's still coming down in various forms! For the last hour it's just been ice crystals bouncing off everything, but it has alternated with snow, rain and sleet so we are a big frosted and crystallized landscape to say the least. It's also very gray so I think we are in for a full day of this and it's not supposed to get over freezing at all, so no chance of melting. Schools closed, kids and hubby home and we are all warm, safe and dry. A big pot a chicken enchilada soup and some brownies and we're set! Stay safe everyone.

Posted - Feb 14 2007 : 07:10:22 AM We got six inches of snow on top of 1 1/2 inches of ice. It is hard to scoop that snow off the ice. SO far today the wind has died down so hopefully not many more branches will come down.
The trees are beautiful. Looks like they are covered in diamonds. Pretty but deadly.

Posted - Feb 13 2007 : 6:15:28 PM Ice storm here, too in No. Kentucky. My power just came back on, but it's in and out so I'm trying to post quickly! Luckily, I have plenty of lanterns and candles, but my valentines day baking is shot. Also, a variety of VERY large branches from our surrounding trees falling onto our roof and back yard. Making the dogs VERY nervous, and mom too
Hope everyone else is well and warm!!!!
Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet. |

I have been through several ice storms so I know how bad it can get sister. Take care, stay warm and I will say a prayer that you dont lose power during this.

Posted - Feb 13 2007 : 06:43:49 AM Oh, Patsy! I'm so sorry. Is your weather going to warm up any time soon? I hope it all melts away asap. The weather forecast here in Louisville, KY is iffy today. No one is sure if it's going to rain, sleet or snow later today. We're right on the edge of what you're getting, I guess. I'm so ready for spring! January here was very mild, so this bitter February weather is hard to take.
