We see more of them in the winter than summer. There's a picture of one sitting in a branch pile in my blog. http://outdoorwriter.wordpress.com/ I hang a thistle sock on the back porch and mix thistle seed in with the rest of the seed for the feeders and ground out front. They've started the chasing and diving now that the days are a little longer. I wish we saw more of them in the summer. I think they must come to the woods in the winter and go back out into the open the rest of the year.

Phil's reaction typically doesn't apply to us - we *always* have six more weeks of winter from this point in the year! But that's okay, the last couple of months were so mild we knew our time was coming ;-)

We call today "drag a woodchuck out of the den, blind it with bright lights and speculate on what he sees" day.

We have just a few inches of snow but very cold temps. Whether it's six more weeks of winter or only six more weeks til spring, I'm almost the point of being ready for spring. I've noticed brighter yellow on the American goldfinches this week!

I am sooo ready for spring~! We have a local: Gertie the Groundhog and it didnt see its shaddow either~! Says its keeper had a hard time getting it outside. Probably due to below zero windchill here...

What happens in Pa. may stay there. We are having sunny and chilly weather and if that is winter I'll take it. MB

Six more weeks of winter for us too. Oh well, Dec and half of January was so mild, it almost seems right- like winter was just a lil tardy this year.

Well he sure will see his shadow here. So that means six more week of bad weather. Which is pretty normal here anyway.

Blessed are those who love the soil,

Patsy
