Just wanted to share, we're in the predicted "Polar Vortex" here in Northeast Ohio and as of right now the actual temp is -4 and the windchill is -25, with temps STILL dropping! My girls and I are inside homeschooling, but the walls of my house feel like the are made of ice - from the inside! My old windows are also creaking ominously and there is not a single wild creature outside - not even a bird!

Any other Farmgirls shivering inside the Polar Vortex, too?

Still really cold here but sunny so I won't say much more. However the snow has no where to go. This is on our farm road. It is going down a hill so imagine the whole road is like this, like driving through a tunnel, can't even see the fields. The sign actually says "hidden driveway"! yeap try and find it!

Ohhhh! I am sitting at 35 and can't even comprehend negative numbers! But it sure has been a cold year. I am sure that we'll get pounded with an ice storm. Talk about chaos in the South. lol

We had -22 degrees early this morning, they cancelled schools again. We have had 40 days of below zero so far this season, almost all of January and February so far. We will not melt for at least another month, then it will take until mid May before all of our snow is gone and the ice on the lake is 40" thick right now. UGG!!!

We have been really cold in Ks too. By the weekend we are suppose to see temps in the 50s. Hope they are right. I am soooo tired of cold weather. I want to go walking and it is toooo cold out in the country to take off and walk a mile or two. The wind here is so bitter in the winter. Oh well, spring is coming.

Oh, I so do not know how y'all can do that! We rarely get snow here at all, but these year, it's already come several times (well...flurries. I didn't say it STUCK) and supposed to get a sprinkling tonight. I just can't imagine not having my 9 months of non-cold. lol

Here in Vancouver, WA we got about 7 inches of snow. I took advantage of being snowed in to work on my vintage decoupage art. First Spring bazaar is the 3rd Saturday in April. Today was outside shoveling the driveway and I could hear the snow melting off the trees. By mid week we should be back to our normal rain and boy do we need rain this year.

We're up to 2 degrees temp and -15 windchill and everyone is actually excited! Never thought I would be happy with those temps. Last night our house was making weird creaking and groaning noises - I think it was from the extreme cold.

I hope everyone's farm animals weathered this cold ok!

This is one extreme winter!

The kids were out of school today and will have a late start tomorrow. It's cold for us (2 degrees + windchill at 6:00 am) . We're not prepared for that kind of cold here in No. Virginia. I haven't felt that cold since I lived in Wisconsin years ago!

We are slowing bidding farewell to our polar vortex too. We've warmed up from wind chills of -44 to -30 They claim mid 30's by the weekend! I can't wait!

Here is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we are -18 with Wind chill to -40. We have only had one day above 0 in the last 5 weeks. All schools are closed. I was going to go to the gym today and Hubby said 'NO' very firmly. That he would take me to run errands this afternoon when he gets home.

Everyone keep your kids and pets warm......and make soup. lol

-6 here with a wind chill of -13. I don't believe we have ever had this cold here in the last 23 years. That is how we have lived here. The wood stove seems to be doing double time now. The wind is what is the worst. I can't only take listening to it blow for about 2 days and then it starts to drive me crazy!

We're also freezing in the St. Louis area. The wind chill last night was -34. Haven't seen any birds, no rabbit tracks, nothing. but then, I've barely been outside. At least the wind has died down. Can't shovel snow because of my sore neck and shoulders. So when I stepped out on the porch to check the mail (none) I sank in about ten inches of snow.

It is cold here too! My sis was visiting and she said that dad told her it was going to get down to 11 here. I last checked the weather online it said 15 but I know it does not update as often as tv news. Drafty and cold. My new electric throw is coming in handy. I am also getting a lt of knitting accomplished! :) All the buckets were frozen this morning so I they will be in the morning too. Tonight all the barn critters are getting some warm water!

So sorry all of you (even in the South!) Are chilled to the bone, too. Our temps just fell again - we are at -7 for the actual temp and -27 for the windchill!! I expect to see penguins waddle down our street any second now! Yikes!
