Posted - Oct 27 2012 : 04:28:56 AM So the weather channel is reporting that an unusual 'hybrid' frankenstorm is coming! we live on the eastern end of long island NY, on the 'north fork' literally 20 minutes from the end. I cant wait to move off this island and back to upstate NY.

last year when we had a hurricane we lost power for 4 days. no biggie, but in usual farm girl fashion, i cooked in the fireplace and warmed water in buckets outside, and i actually enjoyed it. the fact that the bay is around the corner from me though is a little scary. http://www.weather.com/
my biggest worry are the trees coming down, it scares me, and i don't scare easy. we had SO many trees come down in last years' storm. of course many people complained about the power company not restoring power fast enough. how unfortunate that some people complain and not know how to fend for themselves.
we havent done much preparations, because i already have some food stores. hopefully it wont be too bad. I hope everyone in the path of this is taking precautions. they say over 40 people were killed in the carribean from this. that is awful. Be safe everyone! Connie

Posted - Oct 27 2012 : 10:32:48 AM Annika, The reports of landfal differ, depending on where you are mostly. Here in the Maryland - New York area, they are saying tomorrow, later in the day, depending on how far inland you are. It is times like these I am glad I never got my wish to live near the beaches. Hugs to all the farmgirls who do. Thanks for caring Annika. ~hugggs! Jenne

Posted - Oct 27 2012 : 05:08:05 AM Connie, We are also in the path of the storm. Everyone here seems to be taking it seriously. I heard the area and even regional area stores are out of generators and other supplies. Be safe. ~blessings~ Jenne
