Yesterday she gave us glorious spring-like weather...almost 60 degrees. Had the sunroof open on the car and took my pup for a long, sun-worshipping walk, as well as went seed-shopping! Today she graced us with about six inches of sloppy, gloppy, heavy, wet snow.

On the upside, school was delayed so I got to have a relaxing breakfast with DD. I made organic steel-cut oatmeal with maple syrup! Yum! She almost missed the bus we were enjoying ourselves so much.

Nicole: Just reading your description gave me a cold rush! Stay warm. This morning it is 55 degrees, but will be warming up again. I have only seen snow three times in my life. I see people on the Weather Channel driving in all of that and I just know I could not. That is scary looking.

Marly, as I read your post about your lovely 80 degrees, I am sitting at my computer bundled up in a big fleece robe that makes me feel like a stuffed animal, and looking out my window at wet, slushy grey. It snowed more this week, then got warmer and melted to slush, and now it is raining. Kindly bundle up a bit of that sunshine and warmth and send it down to me...please?

Actually, can't complain too much. It's been a mild winter. Last year looked like the North Pole. My driveway was like a luge track.

Sounds like Colorado! Yesterday and today we have had nasty COLD, COLD WIND . . . terrible wind! It's cold . . I'm wearing 2 layers of everything and cranked our pellet stove up another notch. Told my doggie (also my partner on my power walks) I just wasn't going to do it today in that wind. We did it yesterday and, even with power walking, came home sooooooo cold!

More terrible tornadoes today too . . . praying for those affected!

You don't want to know what it's like here then. So I won't tell ya. I hope you have a great day though.

I bet that plump Robin is in its bird house, hopefully staying warm. That is a lot of snow. I'd be in my house staying warm. Nice pictures.

The other night, I had to walk to the store to pick up milk--and it was in the 40s but snowing *madly.* I said to the cashier, "I think Mother Nature's off her meds again." I like the image of perimenopause though!

Oh, and today it's blindingly sunny yet bitterly cold. Give the poor woman some chocolate!

Nini, That is so funny.....mother nature in perimenopause.....Yes though this weather is crazy. 88 degrees yesterday, 68 degrees today. Windy and cloudy. Maybe a little rain later. Think I will stay in my kitchen today and create something. Hum....

I agree! The temperature keeps swinging between the fifties on one day and below freezing the next! Everything around her is really confused!!!

@Nini: LOL! You always make me smile...

So, we still have heavy snow on the grass and trees, but last night (when DH was driving home from work, so glad he made it safely) we got a huge rainstorm. It would have been a blizzard had it been snow. Now it is sunny, but very, very cold. Sigh...it is only February, and we always get snow around St. Patty's Day, so I bet we aren't done yet. Oh, Nini, I also saw moths the other day, too!

I'm with you, Nicole... This morning, it was a beautiful spring day. By lunchtime, my son said it was so nice out it felt like the beginning of summer - a cruel tease indeed. By 4:00, I noticed snowflakes and a definite chill in the air. By dinner, it was freezing out and I turned up the heat. By 8:00 we had more frequent snow showers, although not much was sticking. Then just a little while ago (11:12 PM our time) we got a horrific downpour of what looked like little hail balls (definitely not sleet). Throughout the entire day, not a bird to be heard, and high winds have prevailed. All I could think was, "What kookie weather."

I honestly think Mother Nature's in perimenopause. ;)

Hang in there -

That's one of the reasons I appreciate the weather so much - it messes with everybody, whatever your background, socio-economic status etc. - nature is bigger than all of us!

Nicole: Reading your post title, "Mother Nature Is Mean", made me think of a chapter in one of my favorite books. The book is "The Education of Little Tree", by Forest Carter. There is a chapter in the book about the changing of seasons, from winter to spring. It is amazing to read. One cannot fool Mother Nature, she does what she wants.

We have had that all winter here! Nice for a couple of days & then look out! All in all it has been a mild winter. Hope the spring arrives calmly!
