It is in the low 70's here in SW Louisiana. It is raining, gloomy looking, foggy, and humid.
I thought I would be able to work outside today. Oh well... I do plan to take a long walk; rain or not!

Wow it’s wild weather everywhere!
Ours is supposed to be clear here today until this afternoon then rain. That’s good for me so I can walk over to the Church and home before it starts to rain.
You all have a safe day today

Love you all

Folks in Milford, a small town along the Licking River in our county, were advised to evacuate yesterday. And Falmouth, in Pendleton County, where our sister newspaper the Falmouth Outlook is published, was also evacuated along with Butler.
Our home is safe but the dogs have cabin fever.

Here in California sunshine, rain and cloudy days but the flowering trees are beautiful and the birds are singing their lovely songs every morning.

Been quite warm in Easley, Upstate SC. Wildfires still burning just NW of me. For days I could see the thick smoke.
We are fine. Need rain very much

I live in California. Monday and Tuesday the temperature was in the low 90s. Yesterday and today the temps are in the 60s. Thirty degrees difference! Wow! We were hoping to get some rain as we are sorely in need of some precipitation here! Almost no rain to speak of this rainy season. Fire danger is very high in most of the state.

Cindy, that is so scary. I am happy to hear that everything is getting back to normal and that you avoided the damaging winds. Weather can be so scary sometimes.

Thank you for the farmgirl prayers coming our way during the recent cyclone event to hit south-east Queensland. Cyclone Alfred did quite a bit of damage on the Gold Coast. We are far enough inland that we avoided the damaging winds. The following rain caused flooding for several days afterwards. My parents had 12 inches over 2 days on the farm. It’s mostly receded now & back to business as usual. We are heading into autumn here, but today is a balmy 85F with 60% humidity.

Tara they are about 15 miles north of us, but they are under control now. The first few days were very scary with the heavy smoke.

Glad for the rain. Upstate SC really dry. Yes a lot of wildfires all around.
The garden needs rain. Our weather man said March temps would be above normal. I will be happy to get tomatoes planted next week.

Thanks for your kind words, Ladies! Well, nothing has happened yet. The cyclone has slowed down & is now expected to make landfall late tomorrow/early Saturday morning. We were hoping it would move through quickly, because a slow moving cyclone can cause a lot more damage on it's way through. We are far enough from the coast that we should avoid most of the extreme winds, but the rainfall to follow is expected to cause major flooding. Fortunately, I can sleep at the hospital if I need to & I can be on-call for extra shifts if needed. We just watch & wait!!

Praying for you all Cindy! I know how scary tornadoes can be, I can't imagine adding all the water of a hurricane to it.

Tropical cyclone Alfred is hovering off the Queensland coast, expected to make landfall tomorrow. They’re forecasting up to 400-600mm rain to follow, so Brisbane city is selling out of sandbags as people prepare for flooding. It is quite unusual for us to get a cyclone this far down the coast. Lots of disaster preparedness going on. I guess we’ll see what the next 24 hours brings. Please pray for those directly in its path.

The weather here in California is so up and down! We have had very little rain this year! The fires have been horrible! The temp. will be in the low 50s and 60s and then shoot up into the 70s. This weekend is supposed to get up in the 80s, but next week we are supposed to get a cold rain and the temps are supposed to drop into the mid 30s. So weird!

We still have snow with ice under it. The sun is shining but the rain is coming and will be here on and off with snow for the next couple weeks.

We have finally wrapped up yet another polar vortex here in the Chicago area. The sun is shining and we are up to 23 today though the windchill makes it feel like low teens. On the bright side we will hit 30s for the weekend and it says 40s all next week. I can only hope the weather reports have that right this time!

Ugh Krista! I try to appreciate all seasons, but I dream of a big, enclosed area with a large hose that sprays warm water, and a big blow dryer! I feel like even after I towel them off, they are still dirty.
Glad your kiddos are getting to enjoy the snow. I don't have children, so I go back to my own childhood. I remember my mom letting us put a bit of Pepsi in some snow. It was a real treat. We were rarely allowed soda. And of course, snow angels, snowball fights and ice skating! I love winter!
MaryJanesNiece Posted - Feb 19 2025 : 12:47:41 PM
Lisa, very much agreed! I have to help the dogs avoid the mud when I send them out right now. And the cows are just covered. We are showing warmer temps next week, so the mud will be around for a while.
