We just had a freak storm blow through like 30 minutes ago, no warning at all. We lost the top of one of our ancient gi-normous pine trees and it just missed the house! We lost the top of one of our huge maples and it just missed my dad's truck! There are several other tree messes in the yard, everything is flooded...what a way to start a day!

Lucky to escape with minor damage though! :) :)

Dawn, gotta love the Midwest. You never know what's going to happen!

Belle, I would love to send you some of the rain! I'm sure the farmers here with the larger fields would too because then the cornfields wouldn't look like lakes! It is amazing to me this year how different parts of the country can be in such totally different weather patterns. The heat you're experiencing where you are right now is insane! ICK!

Always something. I have lost trees also. Not the wind or storms. It has been over 100 degrees for over a month. I have lost 3 big Oak trees and several ornamental clumps of grass. Just barely keeping food crops alive. Wish you could send us some of the rain. Would even take a little wind if it would cool things off.

Thank goodness nothing was hit and you are all safe. Sounds like you have a real mess on your hands though. This has been one tough summer for the Midwest. We lost over 30' off the top of an elm tree and it took a black choke cherry tree with it on the way down. Luckily they just missed our house. We had some nasty storms come through the Chicago area and flash floods too. July was a combination of severe heat, drought and flooding. Don't you just love the Midwest?
