Posted - Mar 23 2011 : 5:00:05 PM Oh my gosh, what an afternoon! We had HUGE hail plummeting down from the skies earlier tonight. It looked like someone was hammering baseballs all around us, but they broke into pieces when we hit! It was "epic" as my son would say! LOL! I took pics and will share them once I download them.
Right now, we are still under a tornado watch until 9:15 PM which began sometime this afternoon. Also, a tornado hit Hempfield High School (about 5 miles from our house) earlier this evening. It ripped part of the school's roof off, leaving debris all over the interior, and it also did a number on the track field. They said on the news that it hit real sudden and that the cross-country team was out there. My girlfriend's daughter attends that school and is on the cross-country team. I have been trying to call, but there's no answer. I'm sure everything is fine - they haven't reported any fatalities or injuries, but I am sure she and her husband ran right out, frantic to get their daughter home. The video they have of this thing is simply amazing. My son and I were just returning from his guitar lessons when the sky turned dark. We could literally see the clouds rushing and rolling forward. Out in the direction where the tornado hit, we saw the clouds swirling. It was really, really eerie. I was so nervous that I almost hit the garage door trying to get in as it opened! LOL!
Now we're anticipating snow. Not much, of course, but with all the beautiful spring-like weather, it's kind of disheartening.
What a weird, weird day! :)

Posted - Mar 29 2011 : 03:19:57 AM When I got home from work on Wednesday. My DH said he watched the tornado form right in front of our house. The devestation is terrible for all those people. We have a couple of friends that lost everything. Very scary to have hit so close to home.

Posted - Mar 24 2011 : 12:15:46 PM Nini, same here last night. Tornado warnings and watches all over then the hail came. But nothing really bad right here other than the hail. Then it was gone. And this morning it was so beautiful. Still is except it's COLD out there. I'm glad you're alright up there.

Posted - Mar 24 2011 : 12:10:13 PM I am SO upset because the pics of it pelting down just didn't come out well, but here are pics for you.
This one is of a hailstone bigger than a quarter, They all looked like baseballs coming down, and then hit with such force they broke into pieces! Everyone was amazed that there wasn't more damage than occured!

This second one is my DS with hailstone in hand. He's never experienced hail before, so he was pretty amazed! ;)

All is well, now - just cold, wet and overcast. I'm just thankful no more tornadoes on the horizon! OH! And my girlfriend's daughter is just fine, thank the Good Lord! :)
Have a safe, sunny and happy day!
