Posted - Feb 01 2011 : 09:41:10 AM We got snow last night and the wind is strong, so we are getting drifting over the drive etc. I've been sick so my son is shoveling out the mailbox. So far, only snow and wind, and no ice. We are pretty prepared, but my husband's one sister is in the hospital also. Chicken eggs are freezing too. Thank goodness the kids stocked the porch with wood for me. I have not left my bed or sofa, but to check my e-mail once or twice. Brrr!

Thanks Lorraine. I'm still sick, and schools closed again today. We hired a guy to plow the remaining drive, and he was complaining about the drifts, saying he couldn't do it. Well, he did. I may just drive to the doctor now that I can get out of my drive. My ear hurts now.
The dogs do love the snow. Even our barn cats play in it like little kids do. So funny to watch them.

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 5:51:52 PM Kristina - love the pictures of your dogs. They look like they're just fine with all that snow - it gives them a whole new perspective on things... :o) We had to shovel our driveway too - ugh. We were cursing the broken snowblower... DH thinks it needs a new carburator (sp?) - wish he would have figured that out before today... Oh well, its done. Hope you're feeling better. Hang in there.

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 11:59:29 AM A few pictures with 2 of the dogs. The drift they are on is about 5 feet and very wide, and smack in the center of our U-shaped drive. They dogs were having fun anyway.

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 11:52:59 AM We got the car out. We tried to flag down several plows, and one tractor, but no one would stop. My husband found a guy at the gas station who would plow a small portion of the drive for $25.00. When I get my tractor, I'm going to go help people plow.
Lorraine, your dog cracks me up. Our lab begs to go out to play in it too.

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 09:31:11 AM They have closed many of the roads and highways around here. DH stayed home today - so we're just taking it easy. Although, we will have to dig out at some point. We had a lot of lightening and thunder during the snowstorm yesterday evening and through the night. It was very cool... I've seen/heard it before but not this often.
Our Border Collie, Maggie, LOVES the snow and is a relentless Frisbee addict. She's ready to go even it there is a blizzard.

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 08:08:14 AM ..........let the screaming begin....
all it takes is a snowed in drive, a husband who can't get out of the drive to get to work, where he left his college books he needs for a test tonight, and not one family member who will come plow you out and you get - screaming, bickering and one big fat headache. Lord, please help us.
As sick as I am.....I am going out to shovel his stinkin' car out, and then the mail box. There is only so much a sick person can take.

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 07:44:16 AM Wow; y'all are strong women and you have my absolute respect. I can not imagine that kind of cold although I confess I have always wanted to do toss a cup of boiling water into the air and watch it turn to snow. Then I'd have to run right back inside where it was warm. I get cold just thinking about it! Stay warm and safe, if I could send you some west coast warmth I surely would.
