Posted - Jan 27 2011 : 05:11:24 AM WOW! What a winter! Last night we got 20 more inches of snow here, which is what we normally get in a whole year. Before it fell, we already had received 59 inches this year, so to say we are buried is an understatement. Spring is going to be so sweet this year, for sure!

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 3:19:20 PM Got that storm today. DH and I scooped the snow with our shovels. Took several hours to do our steep driveway, but think of all those calories I burned, right? Hope everyone is safe and warm, I know ours is not the only state hit.

Posted - Feb 01 2011 : 12:32:20 PM Well, now we have fifteen inches more of snow expected throughout today, plus ice coming. This is unreal! We here in CT usually just scoop it up and go on, but there's no where for it to go. Everyone's worried about their roofs, and just about everyone I know has a leak in their home somewhere. There are icicles everywhere, and snow piled up eight feet + high! School was cancelled again, so we made brownies to sweeten the day!

Posted - Jan 29 2011 : 06:39:00 AM Nicole- Please be careful about snow weight on your roof. When I lived in Idaho I saw a couple houses have their roof collapse due to snow weight. I am glad you got more propane! At least all that snow should be keeping your house well insulated so hopefully you don't have to use too much. Do you have any alternative heat sources such as electric or oil lamps?

Posted - Jan 29 2011 : 05:37:05 AM Well, we had to get someone with a backhoe to come and sccop the snow back and off the driveway, and widen the path from shoveling so the propane man could come. He didn't come soon enough (even though we kept phoning) and night before last we ran out. We were freezing! We all got showers, thank goodness, but that was the hot water stored in the tank. Finally, yesterday the gas man came, took him awhile to get down the driveway but he did it! Then he tells me he won't give us any gas because he couldn't see the tank. I said "Over there", pointing to a lump of snow. "That lump?" "No, that one!" He said he couldn't do it because there was just too much snow, at which point I was about to cry. So, the man tells me not to worry. He went in snow up to his stomach to help us out. Lit the pilot for us, and now we have heat! What a sweet man. I told him he was my hero, for sure! I have a bad cold, so it's probably from having been too cold. Never seen a winter like this. We are now expecting another storm Tuesday. I now totally understand why bears hibernate! Our snow total is now about 79 inches.
