That wet snow is so slippery. I have slipped more on it than on the ice so far. So I am being extra careful. And it is melting fast here. Lots of nice muddy places. But also I can see the ground again! I heard that if snow stays on the ground 7 days after it first snowed then we will get more. There's no way all this snow will be gone by 10 pm tonight. It's supposed to rain the next few days but has been beautiful and sunny for 3 days now. The snow on top of my Trooper finally just fell off awhile ago. I sure hope we don't get anymore. And I hope your granddaughter has a nice sunny birthday this year! Be care ful out there.

Yes
Kris it was sunny all day yesterday and today. Finally got the ice off the steps today. But I have heard that if snow stays on the ground more tham 3 days it is going to snow again. And the Farmers Almanac said it was going to snow several times in Jan. My oldest granddaughter was born on the 29th of jan and when she turned 1 we had a terrible ice storm. And she has either had ice or snow on her birthday for 3 birthdays...So I think we are due. She will be 12 on the 29th. And YES we are quite muddy here too

The sun was out here all day yesterday and did melt some. I have seen brown dirt! The sun is coming up right now right down the driveway. It was coming up more to the right of the driveway. Now right straight on the driveway. It will start going a little to the left now. And that tells me the spring is on the way! The sun should be bright and warm all day here so I hope it melts all this snow. Then we will have muddy messes everywhere. But that's ok.

I hope the sun is out there for you today, Deborah. It feels so good. Have a good day.

Deborah, I'm so sorry about Buddy. I know what you mean though. I have always been that way too.

My hubby is heading to Louisianna now. So I guess he might get a paycheck next week. I was getting a little worried. I always make extra food and put some in the freezer for him to take with him. Saves a little money while he's out there. Eating in restaurants 3 times a day can get pretty pricey.

Do y'all still have snow there? It's been coming down here all day but not sticking. I went to town this afternoon and almost didn't make it out of the driveway. Our road was slick in places but mostly ok. I can't wait til it's all gone. It's freezing out there right now.

Kris, well I am extremely sad today I had to take Buddy to the vet and the put him to sleep. I held on to him until he took his last breath. I think I was more upset about him than I have been about a person.

OMG about your hubby. I cant understand why they have had such a hard time in ATL. I heard they only used 9 plow trucks. But also glad that you are really a wise planner....making sure he had enough food and you didnt even know it was going to be bad weather...

Myhusband has to wait until Monday to get his paycheck...no one to sign them ...Oh Well

Deborah, I hope you didn't get hurt. Shoot, I hate falling. So sorry about your dog. I hope you can get him to the vet. My dog Zoe died a few days ago. She was exactly 13 1/2 years old. Her sister Sophie is still doing good so far. A little deaf and has cloudy old eyes. But eats good. Just a little old lady dog now. Be careful out there on the road. And wear some boots! Let us know how the dog is, ok?

My hubby is still shut down in Atlanta. Been there since Sunday evening. He said Atlanta is shut down. They only have about 30 plow trucks for that big city. So he's stuck. I'm glad I sent him plenty of food. I guess no paycheck next week.

Be safe.

Kris, They are calling for more tomorrow...I have been home the last few days. I cant go anywhere either. My DH chanced going to take movies back yesterday. He said it will be harder today because of the slush turning into ice. And is was right. I just went out to get one of my dogs (not doing to well) and slid on my booty...I am hoping the vet is open today. I have to take my 16yr old cocker...he is not doing well at all...

I live in Walker Co. And on the other side of Lookout Mt. is Dade Co. Even if there is nothing down here in the valleys schools are closed because people can't get down off the mountain. There are lots of mountains around here. I live in the valley between 2 mountains. Out in the middle of nowhere. I finally saw a plow truck go by about 2 this afternoon. The main mountain road is still closed. Once you're up there you don't come down til it's all gone. That's why we shut down here. And we got about 8" here.

I was talking to my mom this morning. She's in S. Ga. in Metter. They had sleet there today. My hubby had to leave in his big truck last night heading to Atlanta. He got there and had to shut down at the terminal. It's a mess there. He's stuck. Still there now. When trucks can't deliver their loads and stores have nothing then they can't open. We were lucky we didn't loose power. Then in a few days it's only going to get to 12 at night. So what snow is left will be ice by then. That's what we don't want.

Deborah, that's good y'all got the snow off the roads so fast. I wish it was that way here. People really don't know how to drive in weather like this so I just stay home. Too scary for me. How long does the snow stay around down there? This snow will be here a long time. And I just heard on the news there might be more Monday.

I understand Diane I lived in Maine on the east coast on the canadian border. We still had to go to work and the kids had to go to school. But the only thing is that we also had snow plows going at all times of the night...So we didnt have much snow on the roads. We just had to dig out of our driveways. One yr we had so much snow we made an arch at the end of the drive way and put the christmas lights on it...it was beautiful but it took forever to melt....

I just think it is interesting how different parts of the country handle the weather. Here in Wisconsin we get lots of snow and the only things the stores run out of is shovels and salt. You are expected to make it into work. My DH had to drive 40 miles to Madison in blizzard conditions for drill weekend. My sister got wrote up because she did not want to drive into work in the bad storm. There are still people here in WI that don't know how to drive on dry pavement let alone the snow and ice. I guess we are just more used to it.

Hay ya'll, Yep we had 4 in. and now it is all slush and that will be ice in several hours and very deadly around here. Coz no one knows how to drive in it. That is the REAL reason we shut down..

Karrieanne, how did you learn to tat. My Nanny did it and it was so beautiful.

..here in Northeast Georgia... have about 6 to 8 inches and I shake my head to the closure of everything! I was born and raise south of Rochester, N.Y., where blizzards are common events. This is what I call beautiful snow... plain ole snow... no ice. I understand that the area is not equipped for this... I should also say that I am not either. I don't have boots or snow shovel! LOL! I am enjoying the view though with my tattings and hot coco!

we live in Camden, SC----not too far from Columbia. in fact, i was just there yesterday at a grocery store called earthfare; it is near fort jackson. anyway, in this town we probably have about 6 inches......having grown up in the western part of new jersey, i think it's funny when everything closes too.......however, if you are out on the road and with someone from around here driving----LOOK OUT!! we are just enjoying the feeling of coziness.....have a great day everyone!!

My DD lives in Columbia, SC. They pretty much have closed the state, even the Army base where her DH is stationed! Both of them are from Wisconsin so they think it is funny. It's just that their power lines and road equipment are not designed for snow. The grocery stores were cleaned out yesterday and are closed today. The only store open is Block Buster!
