Just heard on the news today we are at risk of straight line winds of up to 80 MPH. What???? Also at slight risk of developing supercells (read: BAD weather/powerful tornadoes). Hmmmm. I'll batten down the hatches here tomorrow and ready my emergency supply!!!

Glad y'all made it through ok. We are supposed to have Round 2, possibly, of nasty weather this weekend. We shall see. Well, girls, only another month, and then at least we'll be out of the 'official' tornado season.

Of course, hurricane season starts in August, and then tornadoes come back in Oct/Nov, too, sooooo....lol.

Amy,

Welcome to the lovely Texas spring weather. Just wait, unfortunately it only gets worse. we are just heading into the storm season here. we got luck with the storms the other night, they only blew over the decorative windmill and some of the yard art. my neighbor had just finished putting up a new fence line a couple of days ago and now he has to redo it. we all tried to warn him about the privacy fence and the winds here but well i gues you get the picture. we always keep the emergancy box ready to go, it sits right by the back door to be grabbed as we run to the celler. to the other girls on here that were hit by the storm, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

What a night! It was actually like daytime for a few hours. There were tornado watches til around 3 am. The tv went out so I didn't know what was going on after thet. There was a tornado on the ground heading right for Fort Paine Alabama which is about 50 miles over the hill from me. We never got the high winds here in this valley but tons of rain and thunder and lightening. I didn't go to bed til 2 when it finally stopped all the noise.

This morning is beautiful! Blue skies, birds are singing. All my critters are ok. Even saw the 2 baby chicks!

I do hope they find the missing people in Miss. with no more deaths. My heart goes out to those that have lost family. The last I heard there were 10.

So all you ALabama farmgirls, I hope ya'll are all ok. Let us know soon.

We had a tornado warning here in Illinois around 5:00 this afternoon. No tornado, but the wind sure blew. I hope everyone in Mississippi is all right. We also had a little bit of hail. I only have one limb down in my back yard and it wasn't very big. so we got off pretty easy. To those of you in tornado alley, stay alert. And be careful

We actually have tornado warnings all around me here. Tn. and Al. and we are right there in the corner between the 2. It's been raining all day with some wind. The power went out for a few seconds once. I hope ya'll are ok.

Kris, I agree! My plants are looking so great...I hate to think of them getting beat up by egg-sized hail! We nearly got some hail here, but the storm weakened just minutes before it hit. Worst is yet to come though, when the frontal boundary comes through tonight. I have my scanner on and ready.

I have been hearing on the radio all day that we are in for some pretty severe weather tomorrow. It's been windy all dat today. I hope it's not too bad. We need rain but not a flood!

Wow, Amy!

Welcome to Tornado Alley! We have to be ready at a moment's notice around here, for sure. If you don't already have a weather radio, I guess you know you need one now ;0) My scanner is priceless to me! you can pick up the weather as well as sheriff's reports/police reports, so it is GREAT. I have a Motorola, I do believe.

Anyway, hope y'all don't get the funky stuff down there. I'll keep my eye to the sky and keep checking the NWS site throughout the day. I have to run to town, so I'm doing it NOW before the afternoon heats up too much more.

This is my first spring in south Texas. I am not looking forward to it. Spring could be nasty in Ohio too.

I hope everyone is ok today.

I hope not, too, but this morning I see we are included in the 'moderate risk' area now. Forecast models are now predicting the possibility of strong to violent (!!!) tornadoes, especially for the moderate risk area. We have a 15% of seeing tornadic activity, which is really high. Unfortunately, these storms are supposed to pass through after midnight, which, as we all know, is the deadliest time, due to everyone being asleep!

And, even if we just get by with wind and hail, my garden is looking so great!!!I think this afternoon, I will cover my tomato plants with baskets and stake them into the ground. The rain is welcome, the crummy weather isn't!

Well, it is going to be an interesting 36 hours around here! Will keep you all posted. BTW, I am not typically a negative thinker, but sometimes I can 'sense' bad weather. Does that make sense???

That is severe. I hope it's not that strong. Be careful.

THanks, Marly!

And I will do the same for you as well. I know Louisiana was just placed in the 'moderate risk' category not too long ago, though it is supposed to be for the northern 1/2 of the state. I have a scanner and an extra weather radio that I keep at hand for times like this. I need to make sure we have some jugs of water tomorrow, and plenty of flashlights handy. I saw a funnel cloud forming last December...it was thrilling and at the same time, it was terrifying. Couldn't take my eyes off it! We thought it had already passed us, but I caught it just as it was overhead! It was freaky.

Well, if anything goes down tomorrow, I'll have myself and the kids stuffed in our closet!!!

:0)

Amanda:
Take care of yourself!!!!! I saw the Weather Channel a few minutes ago, and things do not look good in your area. I have a sister who lives in Kerrville. I hope they don't get it too bad. I'm in SW Louisiana, we are supposed to get that weather tomorrow evening and Saturday. We do need rain, but I don't like the bad part of the weather. LOL. So, as you said, batten down the hatches and get all of the emergency supplies ready. Don't forget the radio.
Take care. Keep us posted. I'll say a little prayer for you and your family.
