Please protect all your pets. The temperature is supposed to get down to 28 degrees here in SW Louisiana. Keep warm girls!

Hi Kris:
Your pets will be warm! I guess it's just not that cold for my kitties outside. When the temperature drops in the teens, I'll just have to drag the cats inside and hurry and shut the door. LOL. I did put out several wool blankets. The neighbor says, "You'll have to send those to the cleaners to get them cleaned". I just looked, and said, "No problem". Keep warm.

Marly, I heard on the news tonight that 4 people have died here from this cold weather. A man went outside and must have fallen. He froze to death. That is so sad. I just wonder about all the homeless people out there. How do they live in this freezing cold? It's so sad.

I hope your kitties come in. Surely they will. I lock all mine in but they have a little opening in the door where can get in and out. The little dogs can, too. But Bubba's a Lab and he would bark all night. So I keep the door locked so he can't get out. They have cushions and boxes filled with hay. Nice and toasty in there.

We are expecting 18 and 17 degree temperature here this coming Friday and Saturday. My DH and I drove to the camp today to tend to the pipes. The pipes at the house are all wrapped. My sweet and silly little outside cats, Moon, Nadia, Pepper, and Audrey, still refuse to come in the den. So, as I chat with the farmgirls, I have opened the back door open. They are all standing there looking at me. I just ignore them. If I beg them to come in they all run. I think they feel the warm air. My dear farmgirls, please keep warm.

I am with all you southern ladies..... it too cold. I expect 100* and above all summer, but we have had years of mild winters and I'm just not ready for this. I got a new seed catalog today, so I think I will dream of my garden to come while I hug the fireplace.

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

We have cats in our barn. I find that if you can pile up old hay into a little shelter they will cuddle in there and stay warm. They also seem to like to cuddle up in old horse blankets. We have already brought the young ones home. We here in South Texas as getting the same weather as you. We have a couple of cats in our neighborhood that the people don't take their cats in. They are living in the sewer drain in front of our house. It really worries me when it gets cold - or rainy.

Thanks Kris for the information. I do have a small heater on in the outside workshop. A heat lamp sounds good. This morning, all the cats seem to be okay. They are all sunning! We are going to the camp, about 2 hours away, to wrap the pipes, drain the pipes, etc... The weather man said it would get down to 18 and 19, Thursday and Friday! Too cold for me, for sure. Bring on the Spring!!!!!
Stay warm Kris.

Marly, I have a heat lamp on at all times for my dogs and cats in their room outside. It's nice and cozy for them. My goats have a barn but it's not all inclosed. But they have plenty of bedding. I put the 4 month old calf in a stall with plenty of straw bedding, too. Mazie Moo Cow is out. ANd the stupid chickens. Half of them are roosing in the trees. I can see them from the house. Dumb birds. The others are in the goat barn.

It's totally frozen here, too. It's supposed to be about 18 tonight. And Thursday, snow. Friday night about 15. I am so ready for summer. I got our electric bill and it's $201. From $150 the last one. I am getting my propane tank filled tomorrow so I can use the fireplace so that will help keep the house warm. I have to keep the thermostat at 65 so the heat pump won't run on aux all night. It just will not work below 35 degrees.

I hope ya'll stay warm there. I'm sure ya'll are not used to this at all. Sorry to go on rambling.

Kris

I will not mention that I haven't seen the gators in a while. Just because I said that, I'll probably see one tomorrow. It is so cold down here! We are just not used to this cold weather. My little outside cats are sad looking, but they will not come in the den. I sit in the den and leave the door wide open. They just take turns looking at me. I've put warm milk out, hoping they will smell it and come in, but no. My Sweet hubby has the fireplace in his workshop loaded with wood, it's really warm in there, but the cats won't go in there unless I'm in there. I'll be up all night, I know, checking on them. LOL. And- this coming Thursday and Friday the temperature low is reported to be 19 degrees! OMG!!!!! I am so ready for Spring/Summer. LOL. Take care friend. I'll chat with you Wednesday afternoon.

Them gators are not gonna be happy when their swamps turn into frozen ponds, but then again, maybe you can corner the market in gatorcycles (popcycles), get it , hehehehe.
Stay warm my friend
