Posted - Dec 09 2009 : 5:37:28 PM I am near Cedar Rapids, Ia and we have about the same amount of snow a little over 10 inches and it is blowing and drifting. This is a typical Iowa blizzard just a little earlier than usual. This is better than a lot of ice which we get many years. All the schools in the area are closed plus many business's and malls. I believe they said travel is not recommended in this part of Iowa. It does put one in the holiday mood. If you are a snow mobiler you are very happy. They have gone down our road all day.

Posted - Dec 09 2009 : 12:37:39 PM I am pretty sure we had a foot of snow here in Dubuque. The winds are blowing really hard also.
This is my first winter in Iowa and I am not sure I like it. But the people sure are nice and friendly, so that helps a bit.
The cold and snow gets me in the mood to craft. I just got out my cotton thread and I am making some dish clothes for my sisters for Christmas gifts.

Posted - Dec 08 2009 : 6:50:09 PM Kal: Do be safe and stay warm. I'll be praying for you. 10 inches of snow? I don't know what I would do. Really! That scares me. Here in Louisiana snow is not a yearly thing. Keep us posted. Stay by that fireplace and keep warm. Marly
