Get the canoes ready, the rain is coming. I sure hope and pray the rain doesn't bring another flood.

No, I really don't. I was too busy rolling up my sleeves doing what had to be done and not whining about it. I'm sure you know what I mean. Did you go through the floods, too?
After Hurricane Rita, I had NO TV or radio to watch or hear people constantly gripping about money or things they did not have. My husband and I helped with the gutting of the house, mopping the marsh mud, including shrimp, fish, crabs, etc... out of the house. The smell alone was bad enough! One of my country neighbors had to get a dead cow out of his living room. Only one way to do that, with a chain-saw. Now remember the cow was swollen. He would not let his wife in the house to see or smell that. He rented her a hotel room for a week, until they could do what they had to do. No one, or the government gave them a hand out. These people did it all themselves. Hurray for people like that, that's what I say!
Now, when I see all about the Katrina saga on the Weather Channel, I just smile. I'm proud to be one of the tougher ones. I could help rebuild a house if I wanted to.
Thanks for the question.
Marly

Marly, glad to hear you didn't get flooding rain either! I think we have had enough of that.
Just a gripe: do you get as mad as I do when they go on and on about New Orleans and Katrina on the news but never a mention about your and my area? I mean we went through two hurricanes in three years! Ya know? A little mention here?

We're doing o.k. this morning. It rained all night, and there is flooding in some low areas, but it is just a slow rain right now. The rain should end this afternoon and it will be clear for several days. We'll need that to dry out!

We have had so much rain, and the ground is so saturated mold is growing everywhere. And last night, a rain bigger than a gully washer. I really was wishing for an ark. But alas, we are still grounded this morning. Chickens did not float away either. So, its all good. Looks like dry weather for the next several days. And guess what? A couple of days ago in the sky, there was something that glowed, and it got brighter and brighter. What was it? Wow, it was the Sun. Had not seen him for quite sometime. I went outside and sat where it could hit my face for a bit. It sure felt good. Looking forward to some drying out. And yes, I am thankful for the rain, and row cover.

We were flooded by Hurricane Ike, too. And, Hurricane Rita in 2005. Water now scares the hell out of me, excuse my French!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's 8:30PM, and still no rain yet. I will pray for you girls in East Texas. Take care all.

After parts of our area flooded thanks to Hurricane Ike, any mention of several inches of rain makes me a little nervous.Yuck.

Hi Marly,

Your post got my attention. We are soaked too and not looking forward to the next round. The creeks are bank full and the bar ditches look like lakes. We still have water over roads and now ....... more. Oh, my I agree we need boats now.

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
