Well, we went from 80 degrees last week to this today! Our overnight low is supposed to be around 4 degrees!!! No easing into winter this year, that's for sure.

Well here it's been really cold for this time of year. Lows in the upper 30's and low 40's which is quite cold for October. It's usually quite warm up until Thanksgiving. Tonight we are expecting very high winds ( 50+mph ) and 4-7 inches of rain by Wednesday. I think it will be a warm wet storm. Last year we had snow the 2nd 1/2 of December and then that was basically it for winter. We've been in a terrible drought the last few years so I hope it's only getting started. Bring on the rain and snow but, no wind please!

Warm Wishes

I don't like the cold but you have to take it if the snow comes. We don't usually get snow until January or February here. When everyone north of us gets snow we get rain. But we do get the cold whether we get the snow or not.

Thankfully Labor Day was NOT snowy. It was actually VERY hot. How does early winter feel there in Northern CA?

There is still Labor Day, maybe it won't be white. Poor thing. Sorry but, try to enjoy. It is a really early winter feel around here as well.

I love the snow...when it's time for it to be here. I love all the seasons :) However, it's a little early in my book for it to be winter, especially since we didn't have a fall. It wouldn't surprise me if we had snow from now until March or April now.....we're in for a white Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter...of course, we have been known to have a white 4th of July, so I should probably shut up now, huh?

yep!! and I definitely hate it!! LOL
Its pretty from the window but sheesh once someone walks through it, that's the end for me. ;)
I just hate being cold :)

It snowed here last night and I think is still snowing. Yuck! You are a good 20 degrees cooler than we are down here in the plains. I guess I should stop complaining about our weather and be grateful that we aren't as cold as yours. Almost all of our trees were still green too. Great huge piles of green leaves are on the ground now. It looks so weird!

It's been too cold for anymore snow to fall...we haven't been above freezing since Thursday. We actually were at 1.1 degrees last night. Rumor has it we'll warm up enough for snow again by Tuesday. What I'm really bummed about is that winter hit so hard that the leaves are still on the trees and shrubs and they didn't have time to "shut down" for winter. I'm afraid that I will probably lose my fruit trees :(

We've got snow here in Minnesota too. It's cold also and we're expecting our first "winter storm" which means remember to get toilet paper because the snow can get up to the third floor. Who knows, I love winter, then you can quilt, or draw, or paint or bake or take a nap.

Kelly:
Thanks for showing us the snow. We get to see that maybe every 10 years. I love the snow, my DH hates the snow. 4 degrees is super cold. Keep warm.

You know it seemed like when I was little winter started on Halloween day. Warm & T-shirts the day before but, oh no not on Halloween, it had to rain or be freezing cold. I never had to wear snow boots until about December but my coat always covered my costume :( Seems winter is coming early this year, anyhow I hope you all enjoy an early white holiday!

We grew up wearing costumes that could go over our outdoor gear!
Just a given in upstate NY I think as well as all the other northern states!

I was a snowboot-wearing princess more than once! Looking back at the pictures, I resembled the stay-puff marshmallow man, but with sparkles LOL

ROFL! No joke! Doug and I were talking about that the other day. He was saying "Oh it's not big deal all the costumes go over the clothes" and I said "You are used to boy costumes. Girls want to be fairies and princesses and kitties and such and that usually means less clothes" So Nora might be a princess with a snowsuit under her dress! LOL
