Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 7:30:05 PM Well I guess we all could look on the bright side--if there is one--we didn't have the humidity that Laurianne was mentioning, although I wouldn't mind a pop up shower. LOL MB

Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 09:47:42 AM >> << Oh you poor guys!! I know what it's like to be in heat -- here along the shore, it's been hot, and reaaaly humid -- the past couple mornings I've looked at the weather gauges Inside the house, and at8 a.m. the readings have been 80 Degrees with 75% humidity...my skin is dripping constantly and don't even get me goin' about the friz in my hair !!
The weather people say we'll get a break from all the pop up showers we've been having for the past week..sometime in the next 5 days or so..I'd just as soon have the humidity go Anywhere Else an' deal with the heat...Growing up in So. Cal the heat was always baaad this time of year..but this humidity makes it nearly unbearable.
But the veges are loving all the pop up showers, so it all evens out, I guess! Do your best to stay as cool as you can.

Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 08:31:54 AM 74 here in the house this morning too, Anne. Almost feels good after the terrible heat wave. Us PNWers sure aren't used to this. MB

Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 06:52:31 AM Finally relief here in Portland after 4 days of 100 + degrees - Wednesday being the worse where it was 108 Wow! We have no central air - just a couple of window units in the bedrooms and a slew of fans everywhere. Even with shade, our house at one point got to be 93 degrees inside and that was at 9 o'clock at night. This morning much better - only 74 in the house and hopefully by tomorrow even cooler. Our three kitties were feeling much better this morning as well.

Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 01:26:01 AM How frustrating to have AC and not have it work. I'm sure we'll be using it again before August is over so hope you get it fixed soon.
It is so cool tonight - what a blessing! I was sitting outside and got goose bumps on my legs.

Posted - Jul 30 2009 : 8:57:39 PM Cindy, thanks for the tip but I had already done that. And looked at the breakers. So I finally called the fellows who installed the furnace and they will be out tomorrow. I told him if was something he could have told me over the phone I wasn't paying and he chuckled and said OK. Posted - Jul 30 2009 : 5:12:35 PM Marybeth, try looking at your AC unit for a "reset" button. That might be all you need to be cool again.

Posted - Jul 30 2009 : 07:27:50 AM Looks like it's going to be a little cooler today. I woke up to overcast skies - no chance of rain, but it is nice not to have that suffocating heat this early. I'm having a garage sale tomorrow, so I'm ordering up a nice, soaking shower for today, then nice, temperate sunny weather for tomorrow and Saturday for the garage sale!

Posted - Jul 30 2009 : 05:34:49 AM We have AC too but our power was off during the day when we were all gone so at 6 PM it was 90 in the house. Never did find out why the power was off. So i don't know what is going on. It is 5:37 AM and it is still 80 in side here. Who slept last night? Maybe the power off blew our AC. I just don't know. But this just ain't no fun. MB

Posted - Jul 30 2009 : 01:33:50 AM It was 108 in Vancouver today - another record. Yesterday was 107. I have AC so it was nice and cool but there are many that don't. They are suffering terribly because the nights aren't cooling off like they usually do. I think we are seeing the end of it though. I've had enough!!

Posted - Jul 29 2009 : 5:41:07 PM Yesterday I went over to my friend's house and we sat in the creek - it was 106'. The biggest crawdad I've ever seen in my life came along and was nibbling at my toes but there was no better place to be than in the creek, in the trees. When we walked through the field back up to the house, I thought we were going to absolutely fry in the sun before we got there!! No relief today either - maybe tomorrow!
