The National Weather Service In Billings Has Issued A Winter Storm Watch... Which Is In Effect From Saturday Morning Through Late Saturday Night.

A Powerful Arctic Front Will Blast Across The Forecast Area Saturday Morning Bringing Dangerously Cold Temperatures And Wind Chills During The Afternoon. The Bitterly Cold Conditions Will Continue Through Saturday Night. Snow Will Be Likely Along And Behind The Front Saturday And Saturday Night. Accumulations Will Be Likely... But At This Time... Exact Amounts Remain Uncertain.

The Front Will Usher In Strong Northwest Winds Causing Blowing And Drifting Snow And Much Reduced Visibilities. In Addition... Dangerous Wind Chills Of -20f To -40f Degrees Will Be Likely Across The Plains. Anyone Planning Travel This Weekend And Into Early Next Week Should Be Prepared For Bitterly Cold Temperatures And Hazardous Traveling Conditions. Ranchers Should Take Actions To Protect Vulnerable Livestock.

I love our "cold" weather.....nippy and freezing, but no snow. We dream of just a little - it is so exciting here to get some....but I hope you all stay safe and warm and stocked up. Too much of a good thing can be dangerous!

I am so impressed reading all of these posts. You all sound like real weathermen!

My son is living on a sailboat harboured in Sidney, Vancouver Island BC. It is considered the banana belt of Canada. A couple of days ago flowers were blooming. This morning his sailboat is covered with 6 inches of snow! JoAnn

It hasn't snowed here today- very clear and cold...but we have about 4 inches on the ground. It's a bit hard to tell because yesterday's winds blew it around a lot.

Alee - maybe I missed it somewhere, but how much snow do you have today? We have a couple inches here in Elma which is surprising, being so close to the ocean.

We're getting the warm side of the front today - high supposed to be 52 - but overnight thunderstorms bringing in freezing rain/sleet changing over to snow. Not much in accumulation, but it's that nasty drop that always gets ya! We have an arthritic pet bunny who is MISERABLE right now - poor little fella! DS is giving him his meds right now so he can be comfortable today.

LOL! My dog normally loves the snow! She will run around with her head buried in it, but she doesn't like extreme cold. She is good until about the single digits. Right now we are about 20 degrees too cold for her! LOL

Oh my gosh! It is so cold here! -14 outside- even my dog was not thrilled about having to go outside to potty! LOL

I woke up hot because I slept in a big sweater last night (no heat in our bedroom if the door is closed) and husband is like a huge heater once he falls asleep, so I foolishly turned the heater way down. BAD idea. Within half an hour I was shivering on the couch!

Your cold front is supposed to get here sometime tomorrow after a high of 65. Then drop to 22 then a high on monday of 25. Supposed to get ice, snow on Tuesday. Thats OK, if this dad blame wind would stop blowing. My mom used to say dad blame. Is that a bad word? LOL Got to think of something funny to say, while I watch my shingles blow off the house.

Hope you are having fun shopping with your family. I too will be doing some shopping this morning but it sure is cold here. John wants to get a ice fishing shelter for Christmas. He has been saving up some of his overtime pay for such a purchase. And who do you think will have to go with him fishing. ME.... I told him maybe next month it might be better fishing weather. Think I can push the fishing until the spring after ice fishing is over?

BBBBBRRRRRR !!!! Stay warm y'all!
We are having a "cold" spell too, lol. NOT as cold as you girls have but still cold.
AND they say we might be getting our Dutch National Sporting event: The 11 cities Skating Tour again this season, for the first time on over 20 years! Many people, thousands upon thousands travel up to the Northern part of the country (I am very close to that) and they skate through 11 cities. It is a National event (many from abroad come too) and it is televised all day. IF it comes to that I will be in front of the tv often, lol. It is SO much fun to see all the people skating and the supporters cheering them on. Those supporters wait till the LAST one is in, and that last one is cheered upon as good and cheerful as the first one.

Will post IF it comes to that. I am really hoping it will YAY!!

Alee, our weather is supposed to be:
Tonight: Cloudy with rain and snow this evening, becoming all snow overnight. Low 32F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Snow accumulating 1 to 2 inches.
Tomorrow: Snow during the morning will give way to lingering snow showers during the afternoon. High 34F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Snow accumulating 2 to 4 inches.
Tomorrow night: Occasional snow showers. Low 16F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 60%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.

We are only at about 1860 ft elevation.

However, you have a pretty COLD place up there in Montana. DH and I were there last week for a cattle auction and it snowed the day of the auction and the wind was just whipping. There just aren't any windbreaks over there. We were in Hobson and Lewistown. Bbbrrrr!!!
Your country is GORGEOUS but now I know why so many people have such big spreads out there....NO ONE ELSE CAN SURVIVE THE WINTER.

Alee, stay in and STAY WARM!!! Thanks for your weather announcement.
Aren't you glad you don't have to go out to the barn a milk a few cows in that weather?

Our storm is just beginning. The temperature is dropping and we're supposed to get up to 12" tonight. Next week the temperature is not supposed to get above 30, and that's pretty cold for us!
