Posted - Jun 18 2008 : 07:19:04 AM We're having a blast of Arctic air right now! Came in yesterday, and it's soooo cold! This morning it was only 8 Celsius, which is around 46 F. It's supposed to be haying time right now. Well, the hay is cut, but it sure won't dry in this cold, cloudy weather. Oh well, it is keeping the mosquitoes down!

Posted - Jun 18 2008 : 1:10:01 PM Jo,
None of my relatives hunt, but I have heard of the Brechin Gang before! It's a very small town, so my husband would probably know some of them (he grew up here).
Yes, the mosquitoes and blackflies have been awful. I wonder how the pioneers managed?

Posted - Jun 18 2008 : 11:19:19 AM Yuk! We have gorgeous weather in Virginia this week, but my Dad is at our cottage near Portage Bay in Northern Ontario and Monday he said the mosquitoes were as bad as he's ever seen in his 87 years! He doesn't get up there as often as he'd like the last few years, so I hope it;s not so cold that he has to stay inside the cabin all week.
Lori ... there is a "Brechin Gang" that owns a hunt camp near my Dad ... any of your relatives go north to hunt?

Posted - Jun 18 2008 : 10:25:39 AM Lori, isn't this weather crazy? We had that heat wave just over a week ago, and now it is cool and rainy. My vegetable garden doesn't know what to do :) Glad 'bout those mosquitoes though..

Posted - Jun 18 2008 : 08:20:53 AM Nancy, your soup sounds like a good idea! This morning it was so chilly in the house, I made eggs and bacon just to warm the room up a bit!
No wonder you were baking banana bread yesterday...!
It's supposed to warm up by Friday. Got to get some growing heat back for the garden!

Posted - Jun 18 2008 : 08:04:46 AM That seems to be our weather too. Highs in the 50s lows in the low 40s. Although we have seen a few days near 60 and last Sat it was 66 and I got a nice tan. Those are Farenheit temps. MB
