The phone rang and it was the national weather service warning us of an approaching thunderstorm. I looked out the window and saw only sunshine and shook my head in wonder.

Well, in less than 20 minutes the storm clouds rolled in, it got really dark and there was thunder and lighting. The wind picked up and really began to blow hard, the rain was coming in sheets and with big drops. Then it started hailing. The wind blew so hard and it hailed so fast that the bean size hail started coming in under the patio door!

I grew up here but my kids are born and raised in Alaska so my dd and I stood there in awe as the hail came down and under the door, getting our feet wet. The wind howled and the thunder shook the house. It was amazing. I had forgotten how exciting thunderstorms are. Of course if I had to live with it all the time I am sure I wouldn't find it so.

Soon enough it passed us buy. The sun came back out and the yard had big puddles of water in it.

And now the puddles are even gone...
