I walked outside a little bit ago and could hear rushing water. Sure enough, our creek is out of its banks and the field across the road from our house is filling up with water. We're supposed to get 6 inches of snow starting tomorrow night, so things could get interesting! I'll have to get out my camera tomorrow.

This morning it looks like it may have gone down some and started to freeze in the field. It floods a lot and the closest it's been to our house is about 10 feet.

heather, I hope the creek rising does not get near your house.

My nephew is caught at a Comfort Inn in Harrisburg Illinois, by the mid-west floods. He was there on a business trip and now cannot leave! Nearby restaurants are having to bring them food by boat. All the vending machines are empty. His van, which is on the last bit of higher land in the parking lot, is now up to it's bumpers in water. He got the only pair of shoes and socks he had with him wet, and the river may not crest until Monday! He is having an awful time of it, and they may have to get all the Comfort Inn visitors out by boat, which means he would have to leave the car behind. I just hope he stays safe! My sister, his mom, is very worried and ready to get a boat and go after him herself. Please pray that the waters go down quickly.

I just checked on it again, and it's come up quite a bit since I last looked. I can't wait to see it in the daylight! This is probably the 7th or 8th time the Plum Creek has flooded in the 4 years we've lived here. Just down the road is a bend in the creek and with the flood last fall washing out the trees that stood on it and now this one, I think the bend may end up getting taken out. The last flood took out a lot of the weeds that were holding up the banks, and nothing has grown since, so not much is holding it.
