The river is up and it has rained since last night and more rain still coming for tomorrow.

We are in a safe area away from floods, but others are real close.

Other than the rain, spring is near. Pussy willows are blooming, hyacinths are 3 inches above ground, and robins are everywhere.

I had difficulty getting home last night because of all the hillsides in the "Seven Hills" around Covington and Cincy. Lots of landslides and lots of crazy amounts of water pouring down across the roads, making it treacherous to travel. What is normally a 25 minute commute home took an hour and a half, with all the "careful" navigating through high water me and the "little Honda that could" did!!

Terri, Glad that you are safe. I am sure that surveyor is doing just that . I know that down in Portsmouh where my hubby is from, it floods bad there when it rains like this, all of the time, esp in that valley area close to the bridge to KY...it literally makes it looks like the town is an island or something very close. Here in Columbus area, we have some creeks and rivers up but nothing too bad...also some puddling and TONS of filled up potholes.

In 1913 I think all of Ohio flooded including the house we have here. It took some homes completely out along with the streets. We still have vacant lots where some of the homes stood. Now Chillicothe has an earthern flood wall that will hold any flood out and flood gates that go across the bridge if needed. Although we are in a safe area, we saw the river up past trees and awful close to some homes on the other side of the river.

What really upsets me is when I see a storm drain that is on higher ground then the puddles around it. We have a lot of that here. I'd like to ask the surveyor if he drinks on the job.

The Ohio River is going to hit flood stage here in Louisville by tomorrow. The flood gates are being put in place today. The Metropolitan Sewer District supervisor went on the news recently and asked people to just simply clear any storm drains they see in their own neighborhoods to help things keep flowing. If only people would pay attention to that simple thing. My dh continually clears the one in the alley in back of our house. It did back up once about ten years ago, and so did most of the drains in the city. We had about a foot of water in our basement then. The water just came down too fast.
