The weather service just released a weather alert! We are supposed to get 4-7 inches of accumulated snow over the next 24 hours. The snow has already picked up speed outside. Drive safe and stay home if possible! If you don't have 4-wheel drive and need something- Email me! I'll go get it for you! :D

Isn't it amazing how much light can be reflected when there is snow on the ground? There are some pretty specatacular drifts around here, but I would love to see more snow on the ground! I think I am going to go buy a baby safe pull sled (not for downhill) and take Nora for a walk around the block. I think she would get a kick out of that! This summer we will have to build a dog-cart for Sky to pull and teach her to pull Nora around since Nora is now to big to ride her like a horse anymore. :D

Took a back roads drive yesterday to see how the drifts piled up around the farm. Not bad. Good info. for garden / building planning. Lots of tracks to my wildlife feeding stations (away from potential garden spots). HWY 195 was shut down, drifts of 5 ft across the road. Dry snow blew in along all those pretty rolling Palouse hills. Biting cold with the wind, but so bright and pretty in the sun. Like a visit to the arctic. Too cold and dry to clump into snowmen here, but just right for sledding if it doesn't blow today. The sunshine helps lift the winter blues.

We make a difference.

Jeannie-

A good storm up here in the palouse can take your breath away. A few years ago we got 6 inches in just a couple of hours. I'm not kidding. That was a little hard to drive in, but luckily it melted down to about 3 inches before the next day. Most of the forecasts have been saying anywhere between 4-8 inches of snow a day, so a little dusting like last night isn't much. I must admit I am a bit of a snow bunny like Annika. I would love nothing more than to see 3+ feet of snow on the ground- as long as everyone was safe and sound of course!

Alee - I was not expecting that last sentence.....I am smiling...you were covered, your car was covered and no tracks showed, and then you say no "hits" of snow have happened. Cracked me up, down here in the south!!! I was thinking Oh my gosh, how did she get home in that? I would have been mystified and probably useless if I went to the store and came home covered in snow! :)

But it would be fun to be in it again, if I could just look out the window or maybe take a little walk in the yard......

Annika - look for the beauty girl. And smile.

When I went to the store at 8 last night it wasn't snowing very much at all, but by the time I cam out (It couldn't have been more than 15 minutes), I had to brush snow off my windows to drive and you couldn't see my tire tracks from coming in. By the time I got my one bag of groceries up (walking maybe 200 feet) I looked like a snowoman coming in! I had a red fleece jacket on and it was completely covered in snow. I haven't gone outside yet, but I probably have 6-8 inches of accumulated snow in my front yard. Last night probably added and inch or two. It certainly hasn't been the big hits of snow they have forcasted for us, has it?

Here I am in Florida. Not tropical....not in North Florida, but still humid and warm. Next week we expect temps in the teens. Now that will be winter for us. Thinking of you, snug and happy to see snow in your part of the world. Wish I could do that......maybe......... :)

Sounds good. I was going to go to the Ranch in Potlatch today to play with the horses, but I decided not to since my car isn't repaired properly yet. The alignment on the headlights is all whacky for one and I want to make sure that the frame isn't bent or welds aren't coming loose before I drive it on the highway again. So today is housecleaning for me. I hope it snows lots this afternoon though. I would love to bundle Nora up and let her play in a good snowstorm for a minute or two! :D First I have to do laundry though- her mittens are somewhere in the laundry abyss...

Thanx Annika,
I did the cookie baking thing yesterday, and am doing the cookie eating thing today!!! lol!
I am still not to keen on driving in this heavy snow. Staying home & getting some projects completed sounds good to me.
Alee, I did take a pic of the weather station by us, but it did not turn out good, so maybe after I O.D. on cookies I'll bundle up, walk out to the end of the driveway and try again.

Go here and type in your zip, it should tell you some of what to expect, but it isn't always accurate and it changes a lot. I want more snow!
