This morning the temperature outside was 49 degrees. For the first time all summer we have a 5 day forecast with rain in it!
It's been a gorgeous summer in Michigan - very sunny, very hot, but also very dry. I don't want to wish any seasons away but August always makes me feel anxious for the next season to start. I've always been an autumn girl (my birthday happens to fall in October too) and I think even though I'm past school age and my daughter is only a baby still, that back-to-school feeling reaches into my subconscious and makes me want to get organized and start fresh with things around the house. So I'm just fine with seeing some rainy days with a bit of a chill behind the breezes - it calls for making some chili on my Sunday after church.

Hi girls,
I know what you mean about the cooler weather. Even though it has been rainy at least it was nice and cool. We are looking at 90's here tomorrow in southern New Jersey. I am so looking forward to Fall. It's the one season I wish lasted longer. It's my favorite.

Hey Tammy, we could certainly use plumbers here! A lot of construction going on, with retirees the main group arriving. Your husband has a job most anywhere he wants to live, I should think.

So nice to meet another Marylander Ann! You are on the Eastern Shore? I was over in Kent Island last weekend. I love it over the bridge. I would love to live down there, but not alot of work for my hubby - he's a plumber. So here I am in Glen Burnie...*sigh* Take care!

I think us Marylanders are getting teased here. It has been rainy and cool all week, and now this weekend is going to be soooo hot! Come on Fall! I can't wait for the leaves to turn. I love putting on my sweatjacket and taking walks. I also love going to the pumpkin farms with my kids! They love it there! I am a big holiday decorator and my yard is filled with Halloween decorations every year. School starts on Monday and then the weather gets cool....Good-bye Summer! Can't say that I will miss you 'cause that would be a lie! lol

Fall is definately coming here. The lows have been in the low 40's for a week and this morning it was 37. The trees are already starting to change. I have some of the frames up for covering my veggie beds. I have to finish putting up the rest this weekend or I risk losing all.

All you girls from the Adirondacks are making me miss home. I grew up there and NJ was the closest we could get to being back home. The weather is similar but our growing season is starts sooner and lasts longer here.

Fall sounds pretty good to me today. We're having a record setting string of days well above 90 degrees, with Thursday and Friday both forecast to hit 100 degrees. I could use a cool down and some drought breaking rain!

I am digging out the sweaters today, however I think we are in for some warmer temps when this rains lets up. In the upper 80's anyway. Here in NJ we had 70 degree weather in December last year. That was a first in the 16 years we've been here.
I love August because I know Autumn is not very far away. It is my very favorite season. Sweatshirt and sweater weather. YES!! I just love everything fall has to give us. Beautiful color, tangy, crisp air and smells. I am working on bread baking today. These kinds of days always put me in the mood for it.

I can't believe it - I am wearing a sweater today. We are in for a week of chilly temps and rain so I have officially dug out the sweater basket. Amazing in August - but I like it! :)

Fall is my favorite too. I love it when the air is crisp and clean. The heat this year has been stifling so I am looking forward to autumn more than usual.

May God bless those who love the soil,

Patsy

oh my goddess, we use ours whenever we can. We love to cook outside over the fire and have been known to do it on some of the coldest days in the winter...there are photos on my blog of our outdoor cooking last year. The fires get so warm that Rob and I end up taking out coats off! It's so nice to be able to do!!

This year I have to remind my husband to get out there and get a bonfire going. We have a little fire pit in our back yard and have only used it like twice in the past year.

Fall is my favorite! I am anxious to get the garden to bed. It is currently 57.2 degrees outside at 9:39pm. the other morning I woke up at 530 and it was 42 degrees out. I love the warm days and freeziung cold nights that signals the impending arrival of Fall.

I made minestrone soup tonight (had to use the crock int he oven instead of a fire outside though-it's rainy and too windy for a fire) and we all snuggled with out soup and hot chocolate. it was wonderful. made me ache for my needlework that I do int he cold months.....I just may have to take it all out!!

Tabatha, I am a fall lover myself. Maybe it is our birthdays,I was born in November. As soon as the end of August approaches I am ready for fall. I love the cool weather and the sunny days. I love everything that goes a long with fall. The leaves, the smells, especially the smell of the apples in the old orchard. It does make you want to get your house in order and get ready for the cozy home
time of the year.
