It's that time again - brush fire weather. We are so dry here, although we got a fair amount of rain yesterday.

My oldest went out on the back porch to play just a bit ago while I was getting lunch ready and immediately came in and told me he smelled smoke. I took a look and our backyard is completely white with smoke. Four fire trucks went screaming past shortly after so we called hubby who in turn called one of the fire departments while I went down to the road to see if I could tell anything from there. Hubby was told the fire is in behind a beekeeper up the road from us, but they didn't tell him how far back off the road. They said it's spreading fast with our winds (sustained around 21mph today). I'm not sure what to do. Hubby wants me to pack a bag just in case. I'm going to load up the kids in a minute and drive up that way to see how bad things look. Our "local" news is from 100 miles away so it's no help as they don't report much concerning us.

Yep.. Fires.. Fires everywhere!
i walked out the door this moring for work & not only could i smell the smoke.. But it was also lingering all around us too..

very eerie!

i think the news had said we had something like 20 some odd fires going on through out the state this morning..
Naturally everyone is experiencing breathing problems too now..
yuck..
Just a bit too scary i think..
