Hi All!
I'm Kathie i live in Florida..
It stays pretty hot & miserable here most of the time..
i really .. really wish i were elsewhere more often then not..
no Season chnges.. you know what i mean? But here I am..
Right now We're on about 2 acres.. no livestock just a few dogs.. some cats that are squaters & some chickens that moved in too..
We HAVE had a rather large horse farm in the past..But i was pretty sick for a few years..& since i was the main one running that show.. we decided to put it all behind us.. sold off all the stock..& have drasticly downsized..But..i've been in great shape now..( well.. alright..I FEEL good ok.. we won't discuss my shape girls!) & i am SOOO missing the smell of the barn! if you have a barn..you know what i'm talking about ! i need that smell! & those stupid yard chickens just aint getting it for me right now..
ok..Enough whinning..
i love to garden.. which i do as often as i can.. & i work full time..
My three children are all grown & on their own.. so my next goal in life aside from some sort of barn again, is to become a Granny! although yes.. i know that my goal should not have to include the actions of another person.. but this is it..
& i'll be a very happy woman..a grumpy pony or two.. an old horse perhaps..maybe a cow to feed..a couple of geese stir things up & of course a goat to keep things busy! THEN a few grandkids..
Not asking for too much, right?
Well.. Thats me..
So nice to know that i can always pop in on all of you & sit & hear the girls talking.. Just like sitting around the kitchen table at home with my Mom her Sisters when i was young.. & now my Sisters & i as an adult difference is i don't have to wait to go see one of them out of state..or call one of them on the phone..I know someones always here with something good to talk about or listen to!
You all take care!
Kathie

Hi, there, Kathie!!! I'm so glad that you found us here - AND, anytime you get a hankerin', you just head yourself right down here to Utah and you can sure help me with my farm!!! I can use all the experience I can get my head and hands around!!!!! I can only think of one, not so appealing, way of bottling the scent of a barn....... but I think it might be classified as hazardous waste and not "shippable!" Welcome, welcome, fellow farmgirl!!!

XOXO, Libbie

i wanted to thank you all so much for all your sincere welcomes & hello's!
I really is so nice to know your here..
You all have to know how great you all are.. & how happy you can make someone with the simplest acts of kindness that you show.. or words you express..
i am so happy to have found you..
I actually found MJ a few years ago.. & have been reading in & out for ever now.. laughing & crying withb all of you..
Finally decided to jump in just recently as i think Marybeth said..
Life isn't always as easy as we want it to be.. or even as fair as it should be.. but knowing your not stumbling through it alone helps.. & having sisters out there to bounce things off of.. or cry to.. or even take things out on sometimes.. just knowing they are there.. maybe all we need to keep plugging at it..
I'm glad your all there.
I REALLY would love some snow Carrie! just a smidge though..
Janice, if you drive by real slow with an open jar.. then seal it up quikly.. i'm wondering if we can bottle up that scent?
Think of the lableing on THAT potpourri!!
Yes.. Jp.. I live just outside Tampa.. actualy in the same county.. So.. we're 'sort' of neighbors..
I know i haven't mentioned all of your names that said hello to me just yet.. But you know how happy i am to hear from you all..
Aunt Jenny.. I love you to pieces!
Thanks again girls..

Hi Kathie! Welcome from a Kentucky girl. We've got LOTS of horses here. Especially at this time of year, with the Ky Derby only weeks away. I pass the barns on the backside of Churchill Downs every day on my way to work. If only they could bottle that smell, I'd sure send you some! :D

Hi Kathie-

There are quite a few horse lovers here too! I am certainly one of them so I know exactly what you mean by that barn smell! I just love going out to see horses and coming home smelling like one! There is just something about horses that you can't quite replicate with any other animal.

Welcome to the Forums!

Welcome Kathie...glad you joined us. I know what you mean about the smell of a barn. People who are not horse people just don't understand that whole thing about how a horse smells. I get it. I can't say hi to a horse without getting my nose close and smelling it. Hope you find a way to get closer to what you love. Anyways glad to meet you...also awaiting granny-hood....

Keep Smiling.....Bev

You know those are great ideas..
& i would have a great time.. The trouble is..
i'm just too dang bossy for that! at least i know my faults.. right?)
We do still have alot of great friends in the industry..& when i need a horse fix.. i can always go over to their places..
I think my problem is i really miss it ALL..
my own barn.. the business.. running everything..
Having it jusyt out my own back yard.. or driving to MY OWN PLACE..
Where i know people will be showing up that morning to see MY horses..
Just something i know i'll have to get over..
( & yes.. part of getting older too... YUCK!)
But.. i still think that a wee barn out back would make me feel a whole lot better!!!..
Until then.. i'll go boss other people around at my friends barns!
make them muck out stalls..
& maybe if I'm REAL lucky.. I can give a horse a bath!!! ahhhhh..
