Hello! My name is Anna, I'm a 32 yr. old single police sergeant, hoping to go to settlement on a 14-acre farm by mid-July! I have 2 horses, 2 chickens, a dog and a cat. I am VERY excited! The farm has a little shack of a house, a 120-yr. old tobacco barn, and an 8 acre field I plan to turn into pasture. It backs up to a state park about 1,000 acres in size, with wonderful riding trails. I'll have to put up fencing and such before I move my horses (who are boarded right now).

One of the things I find most interesting about these forums is the women trying to go it alone... I will certainly be in that category, but I've always been very self-sufficient. I have a collection of power tools (including chainsaw!) that I like to use, and I like to build stuff. I have a very nice garden now, and can't wait to expand! It's funny... plenty of times I've been at Home Depot, and I get that condescending "Can I help you, little lady?" smirk from men, but I swear I can find my way around that place better than many of the employees! I guess maybe I look more like a cheerleader than a cop, because people always seem to be surprised by my profession. But it's definitely given me a can-do, take-no-crap attitude, which is always helpful. Glad to be here!
