My name is Kate Ryskamp. I was born and raised in Eagle River, Alaska. But I ventured out of the state for college, married a crazy wild and fun Utah boy and now we live in Provo, Utah. At least for the time being anyhow. I am 24 and work as a product development specialist for a scrapbooking company, kind of random, but fun! I own a small online business... called www.littlegreendesigns.com. It's from the Joni Mitchell song, thus the title of this post as well. I am a farmgirl-wannabe. I don’t have a farm and my yard is very small- and even that I share with the people who live below us. But I do love Mary Janes Farm and I am dreaming of a farm of my very own. I love to bookbind, sew, embroider, dye fabric, and well basically I love to do anything craftsy. I can peaches, tomatoes, plums, and apples every fall. Some from local farms and some from my mother-in-laws backyard! I also decided I’m going to start a mini-garden on my front porch this year, watch out tomatoes, here I come! Basically I love everything natural and close to the earth and sometimes when I lie on my living room floor and look up and out the window I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nature. Of course sitting back up I realize I am not but twenty feet from my neighbor. One step at a time, right? Oh, and one more thing about me…. I have a strong desire to own a cow. Yup. A beautiful brown milking cow. So if anyone lives close to me and wants to share I’d be interested in learning as much as I can about cows!! I love all of you already, please contact me, I love to make new friends! Oh, and has anyone tried the marshmallow recipe from “the book”? I am gong to try it this weekend, and any pointers ahead of time would be great!

Welcome Katelyn!!!! How fun to have another Utah girl here!! I am in Manti...so not so awfully far from you...Sunshine is closer. There are Katedid and Libbie down here near me and more Utah gals more far flung...but we are here. You sound fun..we should for sure get together some time!!
I dreamed for years and years of my own Jersey milk cow and my dream came true about a year and 1/2 ago..Mona is my dream cow and I couldn't be happier with her..she is perfect.
For cows I totally recomend the book "Keeping a family Cow" by Joann Grohman. She has a website and forum too..which I love www.keepingafamilycow.com
I am glad you found us!!
