Well, after lurking here for over a year, I finally registered so that I can get to know everyone better! My name is Leah and I live in southwestern South Dakota where my husband is a mission pastor on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. We will be here until August and after that hope to move to Summit, Arkansas, where we have just bought 9 1/2 acres. I am sooooo excited. We both grew up on farms and our dream has been to buy a place of our own ever since we got married, almost four years ago. We are on a limited budget so will have to fix our new place up a little at a time, but to me, that's half the fun.

I'm 26 and have two little boys, ages 2 1/2 and 6 months. I love to garden, to cook, to quilt and sew and spin and knit. I am hoping to get some Shetland sheep after we move. Oh, and chickens...nothing like those farm-fresh eggs! I try to eat/cook as naturally and organically as possible and love learning more about nutrition and how to feed my family as healthfully as I can.

We raise old-style Morgan horses and at the moment have five broodmares, our stallion, and a couple of geldings. Those, along with our corgi, Maggie, make up our little menagerie.

Ummm...don't know what else to include at the moment. I'm looking forward to getting to know and learning from everyone here.

Welcome, Leah! Your life sounds lovely... and the home-to-be on 9 1/2 acres will be so much fun for you and the children and animals! Your experience with farming while growing up should make it a whole lot easier, too.
XO,
Ann

Welcome Leah, how exciting to move to your new place. I agree about fixing up as you go...too much at once is exhausting anyway...we're excited to get to know you better.

Hi Leah!

I just joined to, and these are some of the warmest folks, as I'm sure you know already.

Congratulations on your 9 1/2 acres and your dreams coming true.

Have fun, and welcome to the group!

We make a difference.

Leah, welcome aboard! It sounds like you will be right at home here! We are corgi fans here too, had one growing up and would love to have another. At this time we have a couple of muts and they run the place!

Welcome to the group, Leah! (That happens to be my mother's name!) We had a Morgan horse growing up. His name was Mergatroyd!! We did not name him, he came with that moniker. They are such beautiful horses. It sounds like you lead an exciting life. Glad you found us. :)

Welcome Leah!! YOu sure sound like you have such a good life!!! I have always wanted to visit Arkansas..some of my relatives (grandparents on my dad's side) were from there and it sounds wonderful...how neat to get 9 1/2 acres! You can do so much with that much land!! I am a mom of boys too...lots of them (5) and two girls now too. Only 2 of each still at home and the three oldest boys are grown up now. You are so smart to learn about feeding your family heathfully. I know it has sure helped my kids (and us too)to be alot healthier than most I know. Alot of us here love to quilt, sew, spin and knit too...you are gonna fit right in here...I have a couple icelandic sheep and an angora goat and an angora bunny for fiber animals right now..you will love shetlands..they are so soft and cute. I love having sheep.
Corgi's are so cute!! How fun to have one! I have a basset hound named maggie...well, and two other dogs too...but funny that our dogs share a name. Anyway..welcome to the group..it will be fun to get to know you here!!
