Hi, ladies, it's Paula in Oklahoma. Lord, it's been nearly 10 months since I last logged on. And, my, what a 10 months it's been! I saw MaryJane's book at Barnes and Noble yesterday and realized it was time I re-connected.

So much has changed since I was last wondering about how big to make the garden in the "new house" and what to think about planting this spring. Really too much to cover, but I'll try the "Cliff Notes" version.

I did the headache healing training in Berkeley last September (my first trip away from husband and children in 12+ years). I then did the dog show trip to PA in late September. Came home to discover my husband was having a long-distance affair and that he wanted a divorce to be with his "true love." Coulda knocked me over with a feather! Much of the months between then and now have been a blur.

The kids and I moved late last month back to the little town where I grew up. The house is half the size of the new one we moved into just a little over a year ago, so I'm trying hard to simplify as I unpack. I'm working parttime as the first Main Street program director for the town. The program is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, so it's pretty awesome, although it doesn't pay particularly well! I'm also continuing my massage and bodywork journey, albeit more slowly since I need ongoing income.

The process of separating 25 years of marriage is slow and painful, for both the kids and for me. He has moved his girlfriend into what he called our "dream home" and hopes to have a happy little family with her children and mine (she also broke up a 20+ year marriage for him; they were a couple in h.s. years ago in Albuquerque, NM -- 30 years to be exact -- and she lived in Abilene, TX, before moving here). It's a mess, but we'll work our way through, eventually.

Glad to be back, but I likely won't post too often. Right now I'm painting the dining room. Next *big* project (once I get some $$ from the ex-husband) is backyard fencing. One of the dogs already got out -- at 11 one night and he's black! It wasn't a pretty scene for a while. Luckily, we found him.

Missed you all!

Paula J.

Welcome Back Paula I have been through this and so have many of my friends, unfortunately. You will survive and flourish. "This too will pass", but probably not as quickly as you would like.

As Aunt Jenny said, "The Farmgirl cheerleaders are here for you so keep in touch."

You may be interested in our Farm Girl mail art project which is listed in the swap shop section. The bottomline is that we all send out "mail art" pieces which can be as simple as a postcard. We are just getting started. I have received 2 pieces so far (a big thanks to Eileen), and it is so wonderful to open my mailbox and find something pleasant instead of bills and junk mail!!! And the best part is that snail mail is still rather inexpensive as compared to going to the movies, eating out etc.

If you would like to join us, just send me your snail mail address with a brief sentence giving me permission to add your name to the list and send it out to the other participants. There are about 25 of us now. conniekallenberg@msn.com

You all make me feel so good ... :) Just wish I'd been here all these months; I probably would have maintained some greater level of sanity. But then, I would have been told how I spend too much time on the computer.

Some days you're the dog, some days the hydrant!

Welcome back Paula. (((((((((((((((hug)))))))))))))))))))))))Big hug to you. All I have to say is your ex's new girlfriend has shown her true colors with past behavior. Someday he'll realize what a wonderful woman he left.

Paula, I too am sending you healing thoughts. It has been a rough ride but you sound as if you have a good head on your shoulders and are finding ways to cope. Here is a big hug from me.

Paula - Welcome back! You will find a healing safe spot here once again. The fact that you are noticing MJF's book and thinking about this site is proof that your mind is already in the healing process and is beginning to turn outward toward new thoughts again.

Stick around! We want to hear how your new life is coming along, and we are rooting for you.

I have been wondering and thinking about you Paula. So glad to hear that things are taking a good turn for you finally. I've been there, done that whole routine, so know first hand what a transition and growing time it is... Maybe you can check in late in the evenings for your "my time" allotment? Hope so. Sending you lots of good thoughts.

Welcome back Paula! The road to get here has been bumpy and unexpected but you sound like you are putting the pieces back together and you will all be experiencing a rebirth of sorts. I hope it brings you to a place you will be at peace with. Keep the things most important to you close and the rest will fall away. Nice to have you back, healing thoughts to you and your childrren.

with a happy heart
