Well, seeing as I've joined this lovely group of wonderful Farmgirls, I suppose I should introduce myself.
I'm new to this whole forum thing, so please excuse me if I break any written or unwritten rules.
I was told about this site by my mother, who just loves this type of thing, and she has finally after about a month of asking(or more), persuaded me to join up.
My name is Naomi, I'm fairly young, at 15, am homeschooled, and love sewing, shopping for antiques, shopping, creating gourd art(award winning gourd artist at your service;)), chatting online with my friends, collecting old linens, I enjoy hand embroidery, sewing(Do Not ask how much fabric I have sitting around...yikes), I also love to read. I'd like to move to the country, not really to have animals (though a dog would be nice) but for how quiet it is, no cars going by on the road, just the birds in the trees, etc etc.

So...anyways, thats a bit about me, any questions?:P

Hey Naomi, don't forget about the marketplace here. After looking at your pictures I am sure everything you make would do great here. Can't wait to see what you design next.

Well, beckels, I'm not exactly sure about growing gourds, I am still experimenting myself, the gourds I(finally) grew last year ended up rotting, and the vines the year before were just that...vines....heh...but very green healthy vines with huge leaves...so I usually just buy my gourds at shows
But I can tell you how to clean them once they've dried, and can give suggestions on what to use to decorate them with.

Thank you Aunt George, I think my mom is doing an awesome job as well.

Welcome Naomi, You sound like a very well rounded young lady. Your mom is doing a great job with you. It makes me so happy to see the younger generation learning and appreciating the older arts!

Oh, and hasn't anyone ever told you the one with the most fabric when they die wins? *g*

anyway, welcome and glad you are here!

Tina Michelle is my mom, as she took the liberty of saying(:P)
To all that are planting gourds, any suggestions for me(I'm not so great at the growing aspect of gourds..haha)? I've just started some seeds for the crown of thorns ornamental gourd, along with a few bushel gourds.

@Bramble...ooh but did I say I had to much fabric?:P having lots of fabric is FUN! plenty to work with if a project suddenly comes to mind:P

@Aunt Jenny...so how do you know that you cant have to much fabric?:P

@Bluewren...I love the snake and egg gourds..so neat....I have a snake gourd awaiting cleaning, paint etc, along with one I already turned into a rainstick...pretty cool....dippers are neat to..I've seen where people will knot the actual "handle" very very neat...and birdhouse gourds are fun to make chickens with, I just recently saw a bunch of really neat primitive style chickens at a gourd show this past week...

ok gals...I gotta run...but I'll be around...
