Just introducing myself, I am from Western PA. We live on a little over two acres with some farms around us. We have 5 children, 3 still at home. Of the children at home, I homeschool two and the other goes to a Christian school in a nearby town. This is the first time in almost 17 years that I have been alone in my house:) All my children and my husband went to camp, but I stayed home because our one and only dairy goat is about to have her first kids. So I am enjoying the quiet and decided to check out Maryjane's site. I just love reading all the articles and recipes. Over the years we have raised chickens, quail (there are 15 on the porch right now), and goats. We also garden and make our own maple syrup. We've made our own soap and paper and I am slowly trying to switch us to all organic foods and cleaning products. Because of convenience (and cost) I have often ended up buying foods, personal products, and cleaning supplies that are the usually chemically loaded stuff. I love hearing about things I can make myself to use around the house. We make that a part of our curriculum so I can get some help doing these kinds of chores. I guess that's all for now, Deb

Welcome, Deb! I am trying to move us more steadily to organic and non-toxic products. Cost is a factor for us too, but the more junk that is put into our foods, the easier the switch-over becomes.I think you'll find there are a few of us in the same boat on this site. Slow and steady wins the race, right?
Any way, nice meeting you.
