Hello! My name is Rachel. I was sent to the Farmgirl site by my mother, who knows that I have had a Farmgirl's heart since I was a little girl. I'm 31 now, and have begun to prepare an area in my city lot for my garden. I'm so excited to grow something there this year! The spot is sunny all day long, and it's just calling tme to plant! I'm waiting until the frost is past, and then, you know where you will be able to find me! LOL I have a worm farm, and a compost for some of the things my farm is not large enough to handle. My lawn enjoyed it's first drink of worm tea last year. My grandmother's roses survived the move here to the coast, and seem to be loving it. one of them even bloomed for me at Christmas. I think Gramma might have been saying hello. So, I think that's enough information for you all right now! I'm looking forward to hearing back from the chapter in my area. I was lucky enough to find one in my town! YAY!

Welcome Rachel
I am so excited for you and your new digs. I bet your grandma was helping with the roses. You will find this site a wonderful resource and also some of the kindest women. Enjoy the new place and let us in on how it is going.

Welcome! You are so lucky to live near the ocean! Especially the Oregon coast. So beautiful! We would drive from Seaside south to Canon Beach and it's some of the most breathtaking country I've ever seen. Any hoo, glad you found us. Lu

Thank you all! I'm definately a city slicker. Right smack dab in the middle of it! LOL only my heart is in the country. I do have a pretty nice sized garden plot for my city sized lot! I measured today, and it's 40X8 feet. I also have a few 1 foot across beds that are very long, and plantable, os in total, I have about 360 square feet of full sun all day long "farming"!

Hi Rachel. Look under 'Garden Gate' for 'How to start a small compost pile'. Some of the farmgirls were posting about worm bins there.

Wow you guys! Thanks so much for the huge welcome! I'm going to love it here, I know it. Looking forward to picking brains! Anyone here with worm bins? I did a search last nightm but didn't see any. Maybe I ought to start a new thread on it.
