Blessings Farmgirls,

I am so happy to find this little bit of heaven. I waited far too long to jump into the MJF's internet/website. I live in Madison, WI and I just can't be the only one in the forum.

I am mama of 31/2 y/o boy, Quinn and have been married for 9years. I have spent most of my life in urban (at times very very urban) settings. But for 2 years (I was 3-5y/o) I lived in a rural town right next to a farm. Everyday of my life was an adventure with the farm, the animals and the prairie. My memories are so crisp and delicious.

We are removing busy life layer by layer. Sometimes not fast enough for me, but I am trying to recognize how far we have come (and how much we have undone!).

I am a doula and a homebirth midwive's assistant -- just about anything related to pregnancy and mothering. I also enjoy several 'arts-n-crafts', especially anything I can recycle or repurpose. My mother and great grandmother passed on their seamstress talents. And I hope to have chickens soon. Growing food has not gone well for me but I am not giving up. I live in an area full of lots of local organic produce and meats and enjoy their tasty crops.

So glad to meet you all. And I look forward to reading about who you are and what you love.

Thanks Mary Jane,
Kim

Hey Kim.... sorry this has taken so long, but welcome!!!! My cheesehead farm gal friend :)

We are north of you in Plainfield.... live on a small farm... have numerous critters.... my brownswiss cow recently freshened... gotta love that fresh milk.... and the cream for your morning bean juice :) I love your job.... a dear friend of mine delivers all of the Amish babies up in this neck of the woods.... I think that would be a great profession! Keep up the great work.... I personally at 38 had a water birth with my little Emily who is now 14 months old... and it was a great experience.

I'll stop with the rambling... WELCOME!

Julie

How do you make the faces in an email? I remain confused. :(

Thanks Molly, we are really close. Can't wait to get my chapter kit!

Kim, Wow, Mauston is beautiful. Thanks. You'll have your farm sooner then you think.

Karen, I love this site. Thanks.

Kele, We do have lots in common. I took a quilting class a few years ago. Although I don't make quilts, I've used what I learned so much with sewing and making other crafts. I've been making some flower pins (my own designs) out of old retro/vintage material. I'm going to try the one's in MJF's latest edition. I bet alot of farmgirls like to sew and quilt.

Kathy, I'm sorry about your son's birth, what a devoted mama he has. My son's birth was complicated, as well. I am asking myself similar questions about a second baby.

Thanks ladies. Stay out of the sun.

Welcome Kim! We have a lake home in Mauston! I love the peacefulness of the area. I'm not on a farm but in farm country, a small subdivision located in prime Illinois farmland. I loveit out here and someday would love to buyback my grandparents farm in Indiana or own one here.

Hey Kim!

Wow, I felt like I could have written your introduction! I have a 3 1/2 yr old daughter and married 10 yrs. We live on an acreage now and are experimenting with what we can grow.
I think your job sounds fascinating and scary too! My sister-in-law had a home birth about a year ago and it went very well. She lived in Arkansas at the time and just had a midwife present. We were all scared for her as my husband works in the emergency room here and sees all the "things that can happen". She had a very normal natural birth for her first baby though so she really wanted a home birth for the second one.
Anyway, I just started posting here too and look forward to getting to know people with the same interests and such as me. I love to paint stuff on old furniture and I am just getting started with sewing again. My grandma is an incredible sewer/seamstress (sewer not to be confused with the sewage system...) and quilts about non-stop still. I cut out a lap-quilt with her on memorial day weekend and cant wait to get started piecing it. I was scrapbooking for a while, but took a quilting class (my grandma lives in Oklahoma) recently and caught the bug!
Have a great day!
Kele

Welcome Kim.

I have an 11 month old son named Austin. How do you like having one child? I am not sure about having another as I am approaching 40 rapidly (August) and don't think I want to go through another high-risk pregnancy. Austin was born face first, can't say it was easy on either of us, his little face was bruised and I won't soon forget how painful (natural) his birth was. I can only hope it wouldn't have been so bad if he had been born in the usual way, you know, back of the head first.

Again, welcome!

Kathy
