Hi all. I am the new girl. I have lived on ranches in OR all my life. I married last year and now travel all over for my husbands work. Currently in southern CA. Quite a culture shock for a girl from a town of 500. I have ridden horses since I was a baby, and love everything related to them. Also have had everything from goats to chickens etc... I'd love to hear from you all.

Amanda, nice to have someone who understands the hunting fanatic that is my husband. I was warned though so I can't complain. I enjoy hunting upland game but I am not much for sitting in the woods. I'd rather be riding. Both times he went to Colorado I went along and took horses. There are some beautiful trails out there for riding but I have to carry a pistol, for the mountain lions and bears. I do love it though. If I got llamas I'd probably leave the horses home and just be content to hang around in camp with my young son and a dog, taking care of the cooking for the boys while they head up the mountain with the llamas.

Kathy, I know what you mean about the elk hunting! my husband also is a hunting fanatic and if I can convince him he can use it then it's pretty much a for sure thing. My parent's owned a llama or two over the years, they also make very good gaurd animals if you ever have sheep or goats. Very interesting creatures also, and VERY hard to catch if they ever get loose, I would suggest getting a tame one

Welcome Amanda,

Another Kansas farm girl here. We've got the horses and the chickens and that's all at this point. I do want to get a couple llamas though, mostly because I know I'll never afford an Alpaca so I'll settle for the llamas. I'm working it from the angle that my husband can use them as pack animals when he goes Elk hunting in Colorado. I've almost got him sold on the idea. then when they aren't packing anything they can just grow their coats which I will shear spin into yarns. Talk about dreaming. That's my dream.

Again, welcome to the group.

Kathy

Welcome Amanda! I wonder how many of "us" redheads/auburns there are here? Count me in this group too! Usually you don't find too many at once! Have fun exploring the site.

Hi red head and welcome! I am currently in Southern CA too. I am still adjusting to the shock too but hey it is all a learning experience. Where are you located? Have fun on these boards.
