Hi everyone!
I'm tickled pink to finally sign on here. I found MaryJane's book at the library and have poured over it many times already. I wish I didn't have to send it back to the library so soon! I love it - especially the stitchery and cleaning sections.

I'm a youngin' just starting out with my (tall, handsome)fiance . We live out in the Fraser valley in BC, Canada. Right now I work as a Heritage Interpreter at a National Historic Site. It's lots of fun

However, I've always had a desire to move to the country. Redo an old farmhouse, with me and the fella able to make a living from there. We love BC, but prices here are through the roof (bungalows on our modest street go for 500,000$!) and are contemplating moving to a cheaper province - perhaps the maritimes? It would be a big crazy leap of faith to do it, but our desire is pretty strong. I'd love to hear from anyone who is out there, and get their opinions about good places to go.

I am an old fashioned girl - I love cooking, baking, stitching, cleaning, and gardening - In fact, I already have a good collection of vintage aprons and tablecloths (but a girl can never have enough of those *grin*)

Cheers! - meggie

Hello from a Maritimer;
I am looking around at some older posts now, and if you are really thinking of coming to the maritimes, let me know. I am in Nova Scotia, and prices are cheaper, and not only can you farm, but like BC, you are close to the ocean.
I am absolutely LOVIN IT. There is still MUCH work to do, but it is enjoyable work.

Greetings from a Kentucky farmgirl, Meggie. My dh and I are still in the process of the 'redo the old farmhouse' adventure. It's been a ton of work, but I wouldn't swap the experience and memories for anything! I've learned to do things that amaze even me. If that's what's in your heart(and his), you'll get there.

hi meggie
Welcome to our wonderful group! You sound like you share alot in common with everyone else here. I'm also a "youngin'" from Ontario. It's nice to see more of us Canadian girls finding this place. I also love to garden, bake, sew, knit and everything else " farmgirl". My bf and i are also just starting out, actually he will be making the trip out to BC next fall to do a log home building course, then i'll probably join him. I'm really looking forward to the beautiful scenery! Well I just wanted to say welcome and i hope you enjoy this website as much as i do.
