hi everyone. i have been enjoying mary jane's farm magazine since the second issue, but have just now started using the forum. i am married with two children (4 and 1). i grew up in south georgia on a farm and moved to atlanta nine years ago. we live in the city, but still manage to have a rooster and two hens (cary grant, myrna loy, and constance bennett) and a few tomato plants.
i have tried to start a chapter here, but there aren't a lot of "farmgirls" around. i have a couple of friends that are on board, so i guess i just need to go ahead and start.
i am excited to be here!

welcome Amy, this is the place to hang out. like your chicken names I just have one hen right now ''gabby'' shes a talker and husband of all people has spoiled her rotten lol making plans to make a hen house for her soon as we build a new roo(wallaby) barn. love chickens.
I am by Dallas Tx. working on creating my little farm on our about 1/2 acre. will enjoy hearing about all you do.

Welcome Amy! The names of your chickens are certainly fun. If there is anything you need from henquarters in order to launch a chapter of like-minded friends, let us know.

thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. i am excited that there are some other farmgirls near me.
ayako-i will definitely let you know when the chapter is up and running. do you live near the 120 loop? we were in that area on saturday, and like always, got lost. that loop gets me every time!

So nice to hear someone else has chickens in the city. I live north of Atlanta up I-75. In Cobb County. Let me know if you are starting that farmgirl chapter. I would love to join. I have a 4 yr old daughter and 6 hens (Ginger, Lucy, Pumpkin, Eggnus, Pearl, and Trinket). I live in a subdivision so no roosters but so far my neighbors don't mind the "girls" in my backyard.

Welcome Amy, you will fit right in here. We are so glad to have you. I spent a year in Atlanta but when I was in kindergarten so don't remember a whole lot. Good for you for having a farm in the city, I'm sure those 3 little movie stars love it!

Hello Amy, Welcome to our group. I have always wanted Chickens and almost made the jump last year untill I studied up and decided they would be to much of a comitment on my part. I also think they would end up being my cat's lunch. Since we moved back out to the country he thinks he's the big white hunter bringing me treats almost everyday. The best is when he brings in the chipmunks who are playing dead to drop them on the living room floor and have them suddenly come back to life. I so love being back in the counrty after my stay in the city. 
Pray for our troops to come home safe and soon.

Welcome to the forum Amy! I live just south of Atlanta- we're practically neighbors! Love the names of your chickens- hmmm- you must like old Cary Grant movies. I do too, especially Topper and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (which is my favorite.) We have the Pea Blossom Farmgirl Chapter here in Ellenwood, but unfortunately we have also had a few things that have held us up in getting going. One of my goals is to get us up and running this year.

Hi Amy!! I just posted my "bio" today as well. I have a feeling we're going to have a blast here. I love the name of your chickens, I bet they are as elegant as they sound. They have a lot to live up to with those names . I love your initiative, starting a chapter in your area, I think once word gets around you'll probably have lots of people clamoring to join your group. For now you have a great support system with your friends in your group.
